Celebrating Its 73rd Anniversary, PELNI President Director Distributes 200 Life Jackets in Cilincing

Jakarta, May 7, 2025 – PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) held a "BUMN Care" community service event as part of its 73rd anniversary celebrations, which took place on April 28, 2025. The event was held at SDS Pantai Indah Cilincing, North Jakarta, on Wednesday (7/5).

In addition to donating 200 life jackets and staple food packages to local fishermen in Cilincing, the PELNI Board of Directors also stepped into the classroom to teach students at the school.

The BUMN Care event by PELNI was attended by PELNI’s President Director Tri Andayani, along with other members of the Board of Directors, Vice Presidents of PELNI, Head of PELNI’s Jakarta Branch Dicky Darmawandi, and Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Education Department, Taga Radja Gah.

A total of 200 life jackets were handed over directly by PELNI’s President Director Tri Andayani to the Chairman of the Kalibaru Fishermen’s Cooperative, Tisno. “This donation of life jackets represents our commitment to raising awareness about safety among fishermen operating in the waters of Jakarta and the Thousand Islands,” said Andayani.

Through its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program, PELNI also donated maritime-themed books to the SDS Pantai Indah library, as well as laptops and a projector to support school activities. The addition of maritime books is expected to improve maritime literacy among elementary school students and broaden their knowledge about the shipping industry and marine conservation.

“We want children in coastal areas to not only see the ocean as a source of livelihood but also understand the importance of preserving the marine ecosystem and the potential of the maritime industry. Through literacy, we hope to inspire them to become part of a brighter maritime future for Indonesia,” Andayani added.

During their visit, Andayani and other members of the PELNI board spent around an hour in the classrooms, teaching and interacting directly with students from grades 4, 5, and 6 in three separate classes.

Carrying the theme "Going Extra Miles Beyond the Target", PELNI is committed to continuing to deliver greater and more sustainable benefits to maritime communities and coastal populations within its operational areas.
