The Directorate of Preparedness of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) held the Workshop on the Implementation and Joint Action Plan for Maritime Safety in Jakarta, Thursday (16/10). The event brought together several speakers from various inter-agency groups and shipping operators, including one from PELNI, represented by the Head of DPA QHSSE, Capt. Aldrin Dalimunte.
On this occasion, Capt. Aldrin delivered a presentation on PELNI’s role in the national maritime safety system. His presentation covered an overview of the company, the functions of DPA-QHSSE, the implementation of the ISM Code within PELNI, the various maritime safety programs applied by the company, the scope of the maritime safety workshop, and PELNI’s contributions to supporting maritime safety.
The workshop aimed to enhance understanding among agencies and shipping operators regarding the urgency of implementing safety systems, while also encouraging the acceleration of supervision, monitoring, and the integration of SAR SOPs in the maritime sector. In addition, the event served as a platform to establish a joint action roadmap to help reduce maritime accidents in Indonesia.
The scope of discussion included strengthening maritime safety regulations and procedures through collaboration between SAR authorities and passenger vessel operators, as well as strategies to improve SAR preparedness in the maritime sector. The outcomes of this workshop are expected to serve as practice and a foundation for drafting more integrated and operational sustainable policies to address future SAR challenges.
