Jakarta, June 29, 2026 – PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) continues to strengthen its shipping agency services through a strategic partnership with PT Agrito Roman Bali (Plaga Farm). The collaboration was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PELNI's Vice President of Shipping Agency, Yusup Hanura, and Director of PT Agrito Roman Bali, I Gede Bingin Mustika, on Wednesday (June 18).
This collaboration marks PELNI's commitment to enhancing the quality of its shipping agency services while supporting the empowerment of local farmers through the development of Indonesia's maritime food supply chain. Through this synergy, both parties will optimize the provision of fresh food supplies for domestic and international vessels operating and calling at ports across Indonesia.
PELNI's Corporate Secretary, Ditto Pappilanda, stated that the partnership forms part of the company's ongoing transformation of its shipping agency services, which extends beyond operational support for vessels to creating added value for Indonesia's maritime ecosystem.
"As Indonesia's national shipping company, PELNI continues to develop integrated shipping agency services that are customer-oriented. Through this collaboration, we aim to ensure that the vessels we serve receive high-quality fresh food supplies while creating broader market opportunities for locally produced agricultural products to become part of the maritime industry's supply chain," said Ditto.
Through this partnership, PELNI will facilitate the supply of fresh provisions, including fruits, vegetables, and meat products that meet the required quality standards for vessels. A more integrated supply chain is expected to enhance the quality of shipping agency services while supporting the smooth operation of ships during their port calls in Indonesia.
Beyond strengthening operational services, the collaboration is also expected to generate positive economic impacts for local communities, particularly farmers. By leveraging PELNI's extensive shipping agency network and fleet, Indonesian agricultural products will have greater opportunities to access broader markets, including international vessels operating in Indonesian waters.
"We expect this partnership to deliver wider benefits, not only by improving the quality of PELNI's shipping agency services but also by empowering local communities economically. We aim to create a mutually beneficial ecosystem between the shipping and agricultural sectors that generates sustainable value for all stakeholders," Ditto added.
The strategic partnership covers the optimization of more efficient and integrated port operations, the strengthening of the maritime food supply chain, the enhancement of onboard food supply quality, and the empowerment of local economies through the utilization of domestic agricultural products.
Through this collaboration, PELNI aims to further strengthen the role of its shipping agency services as an integral part of Indonesia's national logistics ecosystem while creating a multiplier effect for regional economic growth by enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesian agricultural products in both domestic and international markets.
As a State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) engaged in the shipping industry, PELNI currently operates 25 passenger vessels serving 483 routes and calling at 75 ports across Indonesia.
In addition to passenger transportation services, PELNI operates 30 pioneer shipping routes that provide essential connectivity for communities in Indonesia's Frontier, Outermost, Underdeveloped, and Border (3TP) regions. These pioneer vessels serve 229 ports, covering a total of 516 route segments and 2,515 voyages. PELNI also operates 17 rede vessels. In the logistics sector, the company currently operates eight Sea Toll routes and one dedicated livestock transportation route.
