Successfully Serving 652 Thousand Passengers, PELNI Concludes the 2026 Eid Transportation Period with Positive Results

Jakarta, April 9, 2026 – PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) successfully concluded the 2026 Eid Transportation period with positive performance. During the Eid Transportation period from March 6 to April 6, 2026, PELNI served a total of 652,271 passengers, exceeding the projection of 641,025 passengers or reaching 102% of the set target.

This figure consists of 577,239 passengers on passenger ships and 75,032 passengers on pioneer vessels. PELNI recorded the peak of outbound Eid travel on March 18, 2026, with 31,460 passengers, while the return flow peak occurred on March 30, 2026, with 28,296 passengers.

In addition to passenger volume achievements, PELNI also recorded optimal operational performance, with vessel On Time Performance (OTP) reaching 97% during the 2026 Eid Transportation period. This achievement reflects the company’s commitment to maintaining punctual departures and arrivals, providing travel certainty for passengers.

PELNI President Director Tri Andayani, affectionately known as Anda, stated that the success of this year’s Eid Transportation was the result of the hard work of the entire team and the support of the public.

“Alhamdulillah, PELNI’s 2026 Eid Transportation ran smoothly and achieved results exceeding the target. The peak of both outbound and return flows also proceeded in an orderly manner, supported by optimal preparation, including route adjustments, capacity increases, and strict monitoring of passenger safety and comfort,” said Anda.

Anda also explained that passenger distribution this year was relatively even, with the central region recording the highest share at 42%, followed by the western region at 30.6% and the eastern region at 27.5%. This indicates that demand for sea transportation remains high across various regions in Indonesia.

“We see this pattern as a positive indication that inter-island connectivity through PELNI is increasingly needed and relied upon by the public,” she added.

Anda also expressed her gratitude to all passengers who entrusted their journeys to PELNI during the Eid period.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to all passengers who chose PELNI as their mode of sea transportation during the 2026 Eid Transportation period. The trust and support from the public serve as our main motivation to continuously improve service quality,” she added.

Although the Eid transportation period has ended, PELNI remains committed to maintaining safety standards and delivering the best service by prioritizing safety first, zero accident, and service excellence, while continuing to evaluate and enhance services for passengers.

“We also express our highest appreciation to all crew members, operational staff, and related stakeholders who have worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth operation, safety, and comfort of passengers during the 2026 Eid Transportation period,” she concluded.
