PT PELNI (Persero) lowered the artificial reef structure at a depth of 15 meters. Its have a shape like a tunnel with a length of 15 meters, a width of 5 meters, and a height of 3 meters on Bangsring Beach, Banyuwangi. The structure, which is named Domus Coronarius Circularis, is a collaboration between PT PELNI and the Reef Foundation. The event was held related to the 2020 Nusantara Day which fell the day before.
The sinking of coral reefs that have been carried out by PELNI for four consecutive years is believed to be a new tourism icon on Bangsring Beach. In addition, the presence of artificial reefs is expected to encourage local and international communities and tourists to preserve the underwater ecosystem for future generations.
