As of July 1, PELNI Adjusts Ship Rates According to PM 7 and PM 8 Rules of 2023

Surabaya, 12 June 2023 - - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) or PT PELNI announced the adjustment of ticket rates for passenger and pioneer ships that apply nationally. The new fares for passenger and pioneer ships will apply to ticket purchases from 1 July 2023.

PELNI Director of Passenger Transport Business Yahya Kuncoro stated that the new tariff adjustment as of July 1 will be based on RI Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 7 concerning Passenger Tariffs and Mining Fees for Pioneer Sea Transportation and PM No. 8 concerning Upper Limit Tariffs for Economy Class Domestic Sea Passengers.

"The PM 7 and PM 8 2023 regulations regulate adjustments to the base rate per mile. Meanwhile, there has been no change in the amount of insurance and port passes, they are still the same," said Yahya. Yahya added, the new fare will apply to ticket purchases starting July 1, while ticket purchases this June for travel in July, the old fare will still apply.

For example, for the Surabaya passenger ship route to Benoa, the old fare is IDR 166,000 (before the addition of travel insurance and port passes) adjusted to IDR 205,000. Another example is the Surabaya - Balikpapan segment from IDR 390,000 to IDR 480,000.

On pioneer ships, for example, the fare for the Sepeken - Pagerungan Besar route is adjusted from IDR 3,900 to IDR 7,800 or Surabaya - Kota Baru from IDR 30,300 to IDR 60,600. PM 7 of 2023 also regulates adjustments to freight rates on pioneer ships.

As additional information, the old rates for pioneer ships have been in effect or have not changed for 21 years according to Ministerial Decree No. 86 of 2002 concerning Passenger Tariffs and Pioneer Sea Freight Mine Fees. Meanwhile, passenger ship fares have used the same rates for the last 6 years with reference to PM No. 109 of 2017 concerning the Upper Limit Tariff for Economy Class Domestic Sea Passenger Transport.

"Although the old rates have not changed for years, we are focused on improving customer service, starting from ticket purchase transaction services, to more comfortable onboard facilities. Of course, with this new policy, we will be even more eager to provide better service. both our customers," added Yahya.

Currently, PELNI customers have found it easier to buy tickets in advance by accessing the PELNI Mobile application and the official PELNI website. Digital payment options are also increasingly diverse because PELNI has collaborated with Bank Mandiri, BRI, BNI, Permata Bank and digital wallets such as iSaku and Finpay. The PELNI ticket purchase channel can also be reached by all Indomaret and Alfamart minimarket networks.
