Data recorded that up to May 7, 2021, the marine toll ship PT PELNI has transported 3,759 TEUs consisting of 2,450 TEUs for departing cargo and 1,309 TEUs for return cargo.
"The highest route for cargo departing at T-10 was 757 TEUs, while for the highest return cargo at T-15 was 323 TEUs. Departure cargo usually consists of basic foodstuffs and industrial products, such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, instant noodles, mineral water, and snacks. Meanwhile, the return cargo is usually the superior commodity of each eastern region, "explained Yahya.
In terms of cargo on passenger ships, in 2021 this will also experience an increase. During January to May 2021, cargo on passenger ships has experienced an average growth. The highest cargo growth was REDPACK load of 243,015 kg, which was an increase of 105,016 kg or an increase of 76% when compared to 2020 in the same period.
"During the period of eliminating the Idul Fitri 1442 H homecoming, as many as 26 PELNI passenger ships were converted to transport logistical cargoes, medicines and medical equipment, as well as other essential goods needed by the region. This encourages an increase in cargo on passenger ships, "said Yahya.
Meanwhile, Acting. The Head of Corporate Secretary of PT PELNI (Persero) Opik Taupik added that during this period of eliminating the homecoming, the number of passengers on the passenger ship had decreased since the pre-homecoming restrictions for Eid al-Fitr 1442 H, namely 22 April 2021. This was due to travel restrictions referring to the Kasatgas Circular COVID-19 No.13 Year 2021.
The company noted that a decrease occurred when compared to before the elimination of homecoming. At the beginning of the pre-homecoming determination from April 22 to May 5, 2021, the number of passengers carried was 63,535 passengers, with the highest number of passengers on May 1, 2021, which was 6,673 passengers. Meanwhile, for the elimination of homecoming on the first day on May 6, 2021, PT PELNI has dispatched 410 non-homecoming passengers.

For information, according to the rules during the period of eliminating homecoming in 2021, starting from 6 to 17 May 2021, PELNI ships operate to transport the return of Indonesian Migrant Workers, Indonesian Migrant Workers, the return of Indonesian Indonesian crew members to foreign ships, Indonesian citizens from ports of border countries, TNI / POLRI / ASN / medical personnel on duty.
In addition, ships are also allowed to carry passengers for the purpose of visiting sick families, visits of grief / death, or childbirth, and for routine transportation limited shipping within one sub-district, one district, and one province on the condition that shipping is carried out between islands within the region.
Exempted passengers must have a travel permit or exit / entry permit (SIKM) from the head of the workplace or from the local Village Head or Lurah as well as a Covid-19 examination certificate with negative results.
PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise which is engaged in sea transportation has operated 26 passenger ships and stopped at 76 ports and served 1,058 segments.
Apart from passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 45 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area where pioneer ships stop at 285 ports with 3,811 sections. PELNI also operates 16 Rede ships. Meanwhile, in logistics business services, PELNI now operates 9 sea highway routes and 1 special route for livestock transportation.
