Head of Corporate Secretariat Opik Taufik said that as a company receiving Public Service Obligation (PSO) funds, PELNI is committed to carrying out the assignments given by the Government as well as possible. "Service improvement continues to be carried out continuously, starting from the facilities on board to other supporting facilities," said Opik.
Opik explained that at the beginning of the use of vending machines in 2019, PELNI had provided 7 departure ports including the ports of Tanjung Priok, Surabaya, Semarang, Makassar, Belawan, Bitung, and Ambon. "Until 2020, PELNI has added vending machine facilities at the ports of BauBau, Denpasar, and Balikpapan. This year, the company is trying to install it at three other ports, such as in Batam, Tanjung Pinang and Tanjung Balai Karimun," he said.
Management expects that the boarding pass printing machine for independent ship tickets can be installed at all PELNI ship departure ports so that it can facilitate all ship customers. "The company is committed to continuing to provide convenience. Passengers no longer have to go to the branch office to exchange tickets but can now print directly on the day of departure at the port," he explained.
In addition, the Company continues to provide excellent service in improving health protocols while sailing during the Covid-19 pandemic. The ship's crew routinely checks the facilities and facilities on board the ship such as mini gym, passenger seats/mattresses, providing hand sanitizer at the corners of the ship, including spraying disinfectant in the ship's rooms. "In the food service during the cruise, the taking of food and drinks is currently carried out independently by passengers (self service). We have also packed the food in boxes so that it remains hygienic," added Opik.
For information, currently 26 PELNI passenger ships have been equipped with GeNose C-19 facilities. "The company provides the GeNose facility as a health screening tool for all ship crews on duty. However, the GeNose C-19 can also be used to screen passengers who suddenly have certain symptoms on the cruise. We also urge the passengers to continue to comply with the protocol. health by always keeping a distance when arriving at the port which is the responsibility of the port authority," he concluded.
PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise which is engaged in sea transportation to date has operated as many as 26 passenger ships and stopped at 76 ports and served 1,058 segments.
In addition to passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 45 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area, where pioneer ships stop at 285 ports with 3,811 segments. PELNI also operates 16 Rede vessels. While in logistics business services, PELNI now operates 9 sea toll routes and 1 special route for livestock transportation.
