January 2025, KM Lawit and KM Kelimutu Switch Routes

As of January 2025, KM Lawit Exchanges Routes with KM Kelimutu

Jakarta, January 4, 2025 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) announced changes to the KM Lawit route which will exchange with the KM Kelimutu route starting January 2025. KM Lawit is also assigned to sail the same route as KM Awu which continues to operate on the same route in the previous year. 

This decision was taken as part of PELNI's strategy to improve operational efficiency and quality of shipping services. With the KM Lawit and KM Kelimutu route swap, both ships will operate on routes that are considered more suitable for passenger capacity and travel schedules.

President Director of PT PELNI (Persero) Tri Andayani explained that the KM Lawit and KM Kelimutu ship route swap was based on a comprehensive evaluation of ship operations, transport capacity and community needs. “With this route swap, we want to better adjust ship operations and existing shipping conditions and introduce new experiences for passengers,” you said.

Previously, PELNI signed an integrated cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Transportation for the implementation of pioneer shipping and Public Service Obligation (PSO) obligations for economy class sea transportation for the 2025 fiscal year in Jakarta, Tuesday (31/12) yesterday.

In accordance with the attachment to the decision of the Director General of Sea Transportation Number KP-DJPL 698 of 2024, there are 2 new shipping routes for KM Lawit ships, namely route A: Kumai - Surabaya - Sampit - Semarang - Kumai - Semarang - Karimun Jawa - Semarang - Sampit - Surabaya - Kumai. This route is the route of the KM Lawit ship in 2025 which is exchanged with the KM Kelimutu ship.

The route B of KM Lawit is Kumai - Surabaya - Benoa - Bima - Waingapu - Ende - Kalabahi - Kupang - Rote - Kupang - Kalabahi - Ende - Waingapu - Bima - Benoa - Surabaya - Kumai. The same route will also be served by KM Awu in 2025.

“KM Lawit has undergone its first voyage or Voyage 1 from Tanjung Priok on January 2, 2025 yesterday,” you explained. 

Meanwhile, KM Kelimutu also has two operating patterns. For route A, KM Kelimutu will sail Tanjung Priok - Tanjung Pandan - Pontianak - Semarang - Kumai - Semarang - Pontianak - Tanjung Pandan - Tanjung Priok. For route B, it will sail Tanjung Priok - Tanjung Pandan - Pontianak - Semarang - Kumai - Surabaya - Batulicin - Surabaya - Kumai - Semarang - Pontianak - Tanjung Pandan - Tanjung Priok.

“We believe that this route change will bring great benefits both for passengers and for PELNI's future operations. This route swap will provide a better experience for passengers while optimizing the existing fleet,” you added.

As directed by the Indonesian Ministry of BUMN, PELNI in 2025 will continue to improve sales and payment channel services to facilitate potential customers. Currently PELNI ship customers can utilize digital channels such as the PELNI Mobile application or the official PELNI website. PELNI ship tickets can also be obtained in various banking applications such as BCA Mobile Lifestyle features, Sukha Livin Mandiri, and BNI agent46, Indomaret and OMI partner Indomaret networks, Alfamart and Alfamidi networks, ATA Tour, Fastpay, easybook.com, via.com, MMBC, Darmawisata Indonesia to Versa and Topindo.

For payment, PELNI has collaborated with BTN Bank, BRIVA, BNI Virtual Account, Permata Bank, Mandiri Virtual Account, Indomaret and OMI Indomaret partners, Alfamart and Alfamidi networks, iSaku, Finpay, and Fastpay.
