KM Kelud Serves as the Venue for the 16th GP Ansor Congress, Reviving the Maritime Spirit

PELNI supported the 16th Congress of Gerakan Pemuda Ansor by providing KM Kelud as the venue, bringing forth a spirit of nationalism and maritime pride, with the event officially inaugurated by President Joko Widodo.

The Central Executive Board of Gerakan Pemuda Ansor (PP GP Ansor) held its 16th Congress on Friday (2/2), carrying the theme “GP Ansor: A Roadmap for the Future of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU).” As part of its support for the event, PT PELNI (Persero) provided KM Kelud as the congress venue, creating a fresh and distinctive atmosphere compared to similar forums in the past.

The use of KM Kelud as the congress site symbolizes a revival of the nation’s maritime spirit. GP Ansor Chairman H. Yaqut Cholil Qoumas stated that holding the event aboard a ship aimed to reignite the Nusantara’s civilizational awareness and strengthen Indonesia’s position as a global maritime axis.

President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo personally attended and officially opened the congress at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta. In his speech, the President praised the congress’s onboard setting as a creative and innovative idea that introduced a new and refreshing approach to national forums.

Following the official opening, KM Kelud continued its voyage covering a distance of 210 nautical miles toward Tanjung Emas Port in Semarang. Throughout the journey, the congress activities continued onboard, fostering dynamic discussions and meaningful interactions in the heart of Indonesia’s maritime landscape.

Joining the President at the event were several government officials and national figures, including Minister for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Azwar Anas, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, and Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko. Also in attendance were the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the Chief of Police, the Chairman of PBNU, the Chairman of the General Elections Commission, the Acting Governor of Jakarta, and other dignitaries who emphasized the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration in strengthening the nation's foundation.
