Lambelu KM Crew Shows Improved Health Development

A total of 25 crew members consisting of 21 crew (ABK) and 4 partners working in KM Lambelu are now showing good health developments.

Makassar, April 23, 2020 - After being referred for treatment since last Monday (20/4) due to positive indications of asymptomatic COVID-19 (OTG), as many as 25 crew members consisting of 21 crew members (ABK) and 4 partners responsible for KM Lambelu now shows the development of good health.

Head of the Corporate Secretariat of PT PELNI (Persero), Yahya Kuncoro said that the Company continues to monitor the healthy development of all crew members who are currently undergoing treatment in hospitals or who carry out independent isolation on board.

"Based on the information we received today, Alhamdulillah, all the crew were reported to be in good condition, healthy, and so far there were no health complaints. All of them have received the necessary medical treatment in accordance with the procedure," he explained.

25 crew members were identified as having a congenital disease before testing positive for COVID-19. To facilitate supervision and medical care, the crew was referred to the Dadi Regional General Hospital in South Sulawesi.

In addition, based on the results of coordination with the Makassar CTF, as many as 17 crew members were unloaded from the ship on Wednesday (22/4). Two of them showed positive COVID and were referred to the Dadi Regional Hospital while 15 crew members with negative results of COVID-19 were transferred to Swisbell Hotel, Makassar.

Until now, KM Lambelu still quarantines and lives in the port of Makassar. The ship is scheduled to undergo quarantine and stay at the port in Makassar Port until April 27, 2020. "Management will adjust the quarantine period and the port of the ship according to future development conditions. If it is not possible, we will not force it to leave," Yahya added.

Now there are still several crew members who undergo independent isolation separately. They have also been instructed to continue to implement a healthy and clean lifestyle (PHSB) and regulate patterns of activity and rest.
Management also always provides a multivitamin for the crew to increase endurance in the midst of COVID-19 situations.

"The health and safety of all crew members is our priority. Management also ensures that all crew members receive the attention and support needed for recovery during this pandemic," Yahya said.

The crew continued to carry out activities, as usual, socializing with each other by continuing to apply physical distance, doing sports activities, sunbathing in the morning for 10-15 minutes. Management and authorities at the port always coordinate well.

KM Lambelu is one of the vessels owned by PT PELNI (Persero) with type 2000 and has the route Makassar - ParePare - Balikpapan - Tarakan - Nunukan - Pantoloan - Balikpapan - ParePare - Makassar - Bau-bau - Maumere - Bau-bau - Makassar - ParePare - Makassar Makassar Balikpapan - Pantoloan - Tarakan - Nunukan - Balikpapan - ParePare - Makassar.

PELNI is a State-Owned Enterprise that operates in the field of sea transportation which currently operates as many as 26 passenger ships and visits 83 ports and serves 1,100 parts.
