Jakarta, 30 December 2020 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) is optimistic that Sea Toll Transport will continue to show positive performance during the Christmas and New Year 2021 Transportation period. Sea toll cargo has been recorded to have increased by 13 percent since the Nataru period began compared to 2019 in the same period.
The company details, since Nataru Transport began on December 11, 2020, PELNI transported 632 TEUs, up 13 percent from 562 TEUs in the same period in 2019. Throughout 2020 alone, PT PELNI has transported 8722 TEUs for various Sea Toll routes, including to the disadvantaged, remote, frontier and border areas or 3TP.
PT PELNI Sea Freight and Toll Transport Business Director Masrul Khalimi said that at this Nataru 2020/2021 moment, the load increased due to the large demand for basic food materials in the 3TP area to welcome Nataru 2020/2021. “Most of the goods transported are basic necessities, such as rice, cooking oil, sugar and wheat flour. Besides that, there are also industrial products such as mineral water, beverages, snacks and instant noodles, "said Masrul.
As recorded by the Company, until December 30, 2020, the cargo of the Sea Toll Road increased by 143% to 5,129 TEUs from 3,593 TEUs in 2019 for the same period. "Public trust continues to grow from year to year to take advantage of the Sea Highway. Out of 8,722 TEUs this year, 5,666 TEUs of which are departing cargo and 3,056 TEUs are return cargo, "Masrul explained.
At this year's Nataru moment, the highest departure load was 181 TEUs on T-10, namely KM Logistik Nusantara 6 with the Tg. Perak - Tidore - Galela - Morotai - Buli - Maba - Veda - Tg. Silver. "The T-10 route is indeed a mainstay route and has the most cargo compared to other routes, followed by the T-15 route, namely KM Logistik Nusantara 3," added Masrul.
Masrul added that the sea highway is also used for return cargo from the 3TP area to Java Island, this is intended to foster reverse cargo flow connectivity and develop the existing potential in the 3TP area. "Usually for the return cargo products or potentials that exist in the eastern region, such as logs, copra, coconuts, marine products, and so on," said Masrul.
PT PELNI always complies with the regulations regarding the cargo of Sea Toll ships in accordance with Presidential Decree 71/2015. Cargo permitted to be transported by Sea Highway consists of categories of basic agricultural products such as rice, soybeans, chilies and shallots; basic industrial needs (sugar, cooking oil, wheat flour); basic needs of livestock and fishery products (beef, chicken, eggs, fresh fish); essential goods (seeds, fertilizers, 3kg LPG gas, plywood, cement, steel, mild steel) and other goods (mineral water, garlic, salt, medicines and so on).

PT PELNI (Persero) as a state-owned company engaged in sea transportation has operated 26 passenger ships and stopped at 83 ports and served 1,100 segments.
Apart from passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 45 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area where pioneer ships stop at 275 ports with 3,739 sections. PELNI also operates as many as 20 Rede ships. Meanwhile, in the logistics business service, PELNI now operates 4 cargo ships, 8 sea toll ships and 1 livestock ship. *
