Bau-Bau, March 20, 2025 – PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) Bau-Bau branch has ensured the readiness of its passenger ship fleet to support the smooth operation of the 2025 Eid homecoming transportation by providing 10 ships to serve travelers returning home for the holiday.
PELNI’s Director of Human Resources and General Affairs, Heri Purnomo, highlighted the condition of the ships and the quality of service provided to the public, particularly in Bau-Bau. "We want to ensure that all ships operating from Bau-Bau Port are in optimal condition and provide excellent service to passengers, including monitoring passenger capacity to comply with safety standards," said Heri during a direct visit to Bau-Bau Port on Thursday (March 20).
During the Eid homecoming period from March 14 to March 19, 2025, a total of 2,402 passengers had departed from Bau-Bau Port. This number is expected to continue rising as the homecoming period extends until April 16, 2025.
As of March 19, 2025, the highest number of passengers at Bau-Bau Port during the Eid homecoming rush is projected to occur on March 25, 2025, with a total of 1,539 passengers. “With more than 2,000 passengers served in recent days, we are optimistic that the PELNI Bau-Bau Branch can handle the surge in passengers effectively and ensure a smooth and enjoyable Eid homecoming," Heri added.
Meanwhile, the Head of PELNI Bau-Bau Branch, Djasman, emphasized the importance of collaboration and synergy with various stakeholders to ensure a smooth homecoming experience. "We have established intensive cooperation with port authorities, police, military, local government, and other relevant agencies to support smooth operations at Bau-Bau Port," said Djasman.

To ensure a calm and enjoyable homecoming experience as expected by the Government and the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), PELNI passengers can utilize digital platforms such as the PELNI Mobile app or the official PELNI website.
PELNI ship tickets are also available through various banking applications such as Lifestyle on BCA Mobile, Sukha on Livin by Mandiri, and BNI Agen46, as well as retail networks including Indomaret, OMI (Indomaret partners), Alfamart, and Alfamidi. Other ticketing partners include ATA Tour, Fastpay, easybook.com, via.com, MMBC, Darmawisata Indonesia, Versa, and Topindo.
For payments, PELNI has partnered with Bank BTN, BRIVA, BNI Virtual Account, Permata Bank, Mandiri Virtual Account, Indomaret and OMI (Indomaret partners), Alfamart and Alfamidi, iSaku, Finpay, and Fastpay.
As a State-Owned Enterprise engaged in maritime transportation, PELNI currently operates 25 passenger ships serving 511 segments with 1,359 routes, calling at 74 ports.
In addition to passenger transportation, PELNI also operates 30 pioneer ship routes, providing accessibility for residents in 3TP (Frontier, Outermost, and Underdeveloped) regions. These pioneer ships call at 230 ports, covering a total of 522 segments. PELNI also operates 18 redeployment vessels.
