PELNI Bau-Bau Prepares Optimal Services for the 2026 Eid Transportation Period

Bau-Bau, 27 February 2026 – PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) Bau-Bau Branch has prepared various strategic measures to anticipate the surge in passenger numbers during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr transportation period.

Based on data as of 26 February 2026, ticket sales for the Eid transportation period at the Bau-Bau Branch for the period of 6 to 20 March 2026 recorded 2,243 passengers who had booked tickets. Meanwhile, the projected number of departing passengers from Bau-Bau is estimated at 26,186 people, while arriving passengers are projected to reach 35,047 people.

Head of PELNI Bau-Bau Branch, Djasman, stated that cross-sector coordination is the key to the success of this year’s Eid transportation operations.

“We have conducted intensive coordination with KSOP Class II Bau-Bau for berth schedule arrangements, with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (POLRI) for security at Murhum Port, as well as with BMKG for weather monitoring. We have also prepared additional vessel frequencies and established an Eid Transportation Command Post so that the surge in passengers can be served optimally,” said Djasman.

Djasman also explained that the peak of the homecoming flow in Bau-Bau is expected to occur on D-2 before Eid, with several favorite passenger destinations including Ambon, Ternate, Makassar, Sorong, and Balikpapan.

“We urge all prospective passengers to purchase tickets in accordance with their personal identity through the PELNI Mobile application, official PELNI ticket counters, or trusted travel agents, and to avoid purchasing tickets from scalpers. For passengers who are ill or require medical assistance, please undergo a health check in advance at the Bau-Bau Port Health Office,” Djasman added.

Through thorough preparation, PELNI Bau-Bau Branch is ready to support the smooth flow of homecoming and return travel, and remains committed to continuously providing safe, comfortable, and affordable sea transportation services during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr transportation period.

“If there is a ticket cancellation, please do so no later than 5 hours before departure at the PELNI Bau-Bau ticket counter to ensure a smoother process and avoid any issues. Passenger safety and comfort remain our top priority,” Djasman concluded.
