Remaining Quota for Ship Ticket Discount Stimulus Is Limited, PELNI Predicts It Will Run Out Before July 31

Jakarta, July 6, 2025 – PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) confirms that the government’s economic stimulus program through a 50% ship ticket discount is running smoothly. In the one-month period from June 5 to July 5, 2025, 77% of the discounted ticket quota has already been utilized. This surge coincided with the school holiday period from June 26 to July 13, 2025, encouraging people to travel by sea for vacations or to return to their hometowns.

Since the stimulus program began on June 5, ticket sales for PELNI voyages through July 31, 2025, have reached 603,419 tickets. The actual number of passengers who have traveled aboard PELNI ships from June 5 to July 5, 2025, is 501,044, an increase of approximately 15.7% compared to 432,941 passengers during the same period last year.

PELNI’s Director of Passenger Transportation Business, Nuraini Dessy, stated that the economic stimulus program has clearly boosted public mobility, particularly during the school holiday season.

“The economic stimulus through the 50% ticket discount has generated high public enthusiasm, especially during school holidays. In just one month, 77% of the quota has been absorbed, demonstrating that the program has made sea transportation more affordable and accessible to the public,” said Dessy.

Despite the significant increase in passengers, Dessy emphasized PELNI’s continued commitment to ensuring maritime safety and its ongoing coordination with port authorities to ensure passenger capacity remains within regulations and safety is prioritized.

“We would like to express our gratitude to the Ministry of Transportation for fully supporting the implementation of this economic stimulus through the 50% discount on PELNI ship tickets. This support has enabled us to expand access to safe and affordable sea transportation while also improving interregional connectivity,” added Dessy.

PELNI also urges the public intending to travel using PELNI ships to book their tickets promptly in order to take advantage of the remaining discounted ticket quota for departures until the end of July 2025.

The ticket discount stimulus policy applies across all PELNI ship ticket purchasing channels, including the PELNI Mobile App, PELNI website, Contact Center 162, branch ticket offices, BCA Mobile Lifestyle, Sukha by Livin Mandiri, BNI Agen46, BRImo, MyTelkomsel, the Indomaret and OMI (Indogrosir partners) networks, Alfamart and Alfamidi, ATA Tour, Fastpay, easybook.com, via.com, MMBC, Darmawisata Indonesia, as well as Versa and Topindo.

For payments, PELNI has partnered with Bank BTN, BRIVA, BNI Virtual Account, Permata Bank, Mandiri Virtual Account, Indomaret, OMI (Indogrosir partners), Alfamart and Alfamidi, iSaku, Finpay, and Fastpay.
