Strengthening Fleet Reliability, PELNI Signs Contract with DKB

The aim is to support the operational readiness of PELNI ships in the form of guarantees for the provision of dock space in carrying out ship repairs and maintenance in accordance with seaworthy requirements with the principle of mutual benefit.

Jakarta, 27 April 2022 - In order to ensure that all fleets are seaworthy, PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) signed a contract with PT Dok and Perkapalan Kodja Bahari (Persero) on "Home Doctor Service Floating Repair and Docking of PELNI Ships". The signing was carried out by the Director of Fleet and Engineering Robert MP Sinaga with the Director of Ops and Engineering Ari Rochmat Basuki in Jakarta, Wednesday (27/4).

Head of the Corporate Secretariat of PT PELNI Opik Taupik said that the contract executed by PT PELNI and PT DKB is a manifestation of collaboration between SOEs, as an effort to increase the added value of fellow SOEs. "PT DKB as a state-owned company engaged in ship maintenance and repair is of course very closely related to PT PELNI as a shipping company. From this collaboration, we hope that PELNI ships can operate and serve the community well and excellently," said Opik.

The purpose of the collaboration between PT PELNI and PT DKB through the "Home Doctor Service Floating Repair and Docking PELNI Ship Docking" contract is to support the operational readiness of PELNI ships in the form of guarantees for the provision of dock space in carrying out ship repairs and maintenance in accordance with seaworthy requirements with the principle win-win solution. In addition, PT DKB will also carry out floating repairs and docking in accordance with the repair list according to established standards.

"We, as a maritime shipping and logistics company, of course always ensure that all PELNI ships are fit to travel or cruise at sea. PELNI ships that are seaworthy and in prime condition can maintain excellent service and realize safe, healthy, comfortable, and safe shipping to their destination, "said Opik.

Opik added that PT PELNI itself has a ship repair SBU, namely the PELNI Surya Shipyard located in Surabaya. "The number of PELNI ships which is quite large, which operates as many as 106 ships of different sizes and capacities, is certainly too many for one shipyard to handle. For this reason, we also cooperate with PT DKB (Persero) in carrying out maintenance and repairs on PELNI ships," he added.

PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise engaged in sea transportation has currently operated 26 passenger ships and stopped at 76 ports and served 1,058 segments.

In addition to passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 44 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area, where pioneer ships stop at 285 ports with 3,695 segments. PELNI also operates 16 Rede vessels. Meanwhile, in logistics business services, PELNI now operates 10 sea toll routes and 1 special route for livestock transportation.
