Transporting Indonesian President's Aid, KM Tidar Arrives at Dobo Port

PT PELNI (Persero) deployed KM Tidar to transport humanitarian aid during the PPKM period from the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo and the Governor of Maluku

PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) deployed KM Tidar to transport humanitarian aid during the PPKM period from the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo and the Governor of Maluku. The aid, which is intended for people affected by COVID-19 in the Aru Islands Regency, Maluku, has arrived at Dobo Port, Maluku, on Wednesday (11/8) at 03.00 local time.

Acting. Head of the Corporate Secretariat of PT PELNI Opik Taufik said that the aid transported was in the form of 1,000 packages of rice from the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo and 1,000 packages of basic food items from the Governor of Maluku. “The aid was transported from Yos Sudarso Port, Ambon, Maluku on Monday (9/8). The total aid packages transported reached 20 tons and were loaded in two containers, and will then be distributed to beneficiaries by the Dobo Regional Government.” he said.

The company fully supports the Government's policies in its efforts to deal with people affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic. "We as operators certainly support what is assigned by the regulator, namely the Ministry of Transportation, including for transporting aid for the Indonesian people. We will carry it out in accordance with the approvals and procedures set by the regulator," said Opik.

Opik added, the company will continue to serve the logistics needs of the Indonesian people, especially during the PPKM period as it is today. "We will continue to maximize cargo ships and passenger ships to support logistics distribution for the community, especially during the restrictions. We hope that this logistics service can continue to be used to help the community in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic," added Opik.

For information, KM Tidar is one of 26 passenger ships operated by PT PELNI with a passenger capacity of 2,000 pax. Meanwhile, General Cargo's cargo capacity is up to 1,200 m3, bulk cargo is up to 1,400 m3 and 2 refeers are attached. KM Tidar serves Makassar - Baubau - Namlea - Ambon - Tual - Dobo - Kaimana - Fakfak - Sorong - Manokwari - Sorong - Fakfak - Kaimana - Dobo - Tual - Ambon - Namlea - Baubau - Makassar shipping routes.

PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise which is engaged in sea transportation to date has operated as many as 26 passenger ships and stopped at 76 ports and served 1,058 segments.

In addition to passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 45 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area, where pioneer ships stop at 285 ports with 3,811 segments. PELNI also operates 16 Rede vessels. While in logistics business services, PELNI now operates 9 sea toll routes and 1 special route for livestock transportation.
