Jakarta, July 23, 2021 -- During Semester 1 2021 yesterday, the performance of the freight transportation of PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) was able to print an increase in production of up to 85 percent. This achievement cannot be separated from the potential route of KM Logistik Nusatara 5 (T-10 route) which provides the largest contribution.
PT PELNI's Sea Toll and Freight Transportation Business Director, Yahya Kuncoro, is grateful that the T-10 route navigating the Surabaya route to the islands around Ternate can be utilized optimally. "This positive achievement of freight transportation certainly gives a bit of a breather for the company, which has been hit hard by various restrictions on passenger access due to the current situation," said Yahya.
Of the nine sea toll routes, the route with the highest production in Semester 1 is occupied by KM Lognus 5 (T-10) with a total of 1,580 TEUs during the January to June period. T-10 itself serves the route Tg. Perak – Tidore – Morotai – Galela – Maba/Buli – Vedas – Tg.Perak. The next heavy-loaded route is KM Logistik Nusantara 3 (T-15) which contributes as much as 1,058 TEUs of cargo with the Tg. Perak – Makassar – Jailolo – Morotai – Tg.Perak.
Company data shows that in Semester 1-2021, PT PELNI's cargo ship has transported 6,005 TEUs of cargo, consisting of 3,704 TEUs of departing cargo and 2,301 TEUs of return cargo. "The Emergency PPKM policy during the Covid-19 pandemic did not dampen the performance of PT PELNI's freight transport. The Company should be grateful for this despite the pressure on passenger transport performance. When compared to 2020, the Company only transported 3,242 TEUs of cargo in semester 1," explained Yahya.
Departing cargo is usually filled with basic necessities and industrial products such as cooking oil, sugar, instant noodles, mineral water to snacks. Meanwhile, the current reverse charge has also increased, the Regional Government has shown its superior commodity in each region, namely the route with the most backloads on T-10 which contributes 551 TEUs of backloading.
In Semester 1-2021, the cargo on passenger ships also increased. It was recorded that during Semester 1-2021, General Cargo on 26 passenger ships rose 33% or increased by 4,062 tons, while cargo on passenger ship containers increased by 27% or increased by 1,180 TEUs compared to 2020 in the same period. Vehicle loads on passenger ships also showed a positive trend, which was up 56% or an increase of 2,219 vehicles compared to Semester 1-2020.
“The highest cargo growth in Semester 1-2021 was in Redpack cargo of 355,466 kg, which was an increase of 177,572 kg or an increase of 99.8% compared to Semester 1-2020. This shows that people are increasingly trusting PT PELNI in terms of shipping goods through parcel services, which offer the advantages of end-to-end logistics,” said Yahya.
The company believes that the cargo cargo target in 2021 will be achieved, seeing a significant increase in each cargo service. "The target of cargo cargo on cargo ships in 2021 is 9,553 TEUs, meaning that we have reached 63% to reach the target in 2021. We are optimistic that cargo loads will continue to increase along with the increasing logistical needs of the community, especially during this Covid-19 pandemic," Yahya explained.
For information, at the beginning of Semester II-2021, the Company once again showed a positive trend in the return of sea toll vessels. “The T-19 navigable by KM Lognus 2 with the route Merauke – Kokas – Sorong – Biak/Korido – Jayapura/Depapre – Sorong – Merauke on the 7th voyage realized as many as 11 TEUs of countercharges out of a total of 20 TEUs of counterload targets in each voyage. . This backload is filled by the Depapre regional superior commodities that have become the results of local industrial crafts such as furniture, cabinets, sofas, spring beds and foam mattresses for the needs of the XX Papua PON 2021, "explained Yahya.
The company will continue to innovate to make it easier for the public to order logistics using PELNI vessels, such as the MyCargoo! application. "This application is here to make it easier for shippers to see in detail the available cargo slots in real time and track cargo. Of course, this will simplify the process of booking and reservation of cargo other than through the website cargo.pelnilogistic.co.id and the PT PELNI Branch Office counter," concluded Yahya.
