Awarded as Best CEO 2020,CEO of PELNI Praises Ship Crews Who Fight Amid the COVID Pandemic

President Director of PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) won an award from Iconomics as Best CEO 2020 In Shipping Category

Jakarta, July 23, 2020 - President Director of PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) won an award from Iconomics as Best CEO 2020 In Shipping Category which was held virtually through the Zoom Cloud Meeting Application and broadcasted live via Iconomics TV's Youtube account on Thursday (23/7).

The award was received virtually by the President Director of PT PELNI (Persero) Insan Purwarisya L. Tobing at the 2020 Employees' Choice Award.

In his speech, Insan Purwarisya L. Tobing stated that the awarding of this award was not for himself. "I dedicate this award to all PELNI Personnel, especially Ship Crew and Operational HR at Branch Offices who over the past four months have shown dedication and loyalty while continuing to provide the best service for PELNI customers," explained Insan.

At the Employees' Choice Awards 2020, Iconomics gave awards to the Company Leaders or CEOs from various industries to find out how CEOs can face the hardships amid the Covid-19 Pandemic. The assessment was carried out by surveying thousands of staff/employees of various industries and categories, with a total number of respondents approaching 10,000 (cumulative) at the beginning of June 2020. Through an online questionnaire, organizers asked for their assessment of the CEOs of their institutions and CEOs of other institutions.

"This year PELNI is experiencing quite a tough challenge. Amid the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, PELNI had time to stop its operational activities, especially on passenger transportation. Alhamdulillah, now we have returned to providing passenger transportation services to several regions in Indonesia, "explained Insan.

The Covid-19 pandemic which affected PELNI passenger transportation, in the first semester of 2020 the number of PELNI ship passengers decreased by 58% from semester 1 of 2019. On the other hand, with the cargo optimization policy during the Covid-19 pandemic, freight transportation during the half of 2020, this has increased by up to 300% compared to semester 1 of 2019. In semester 2-2020, freight transportation is believed to be still the mainstay of PT PELNI to compensate for sluggish passenger transportation.

Insan would like to thank the organizers who have given this award to PT PELNI, "Especially myself personally, I hope this award will be a reminder for me to be able to give more than I have done before," concluded Insan.
