Press Release
PT PELNI (Persero)
No. : 09.11/37/PR/IX/2024
Tarakan, September 11, 2024 -- PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) received an assignment from the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation to support religious activities in the Biak area, Papua. To accommodate religious participants to the activity location, PELNI adjusted the route (deviation) of KM Dobonsolo by passing through Biak Port.
PELNI Passenger Transportation Business Director Nuraini Dessy said that this assignment was based on the request of the Chairman of the GKI Immanuel Agung Samofa Congregation Council to the Government to provide transportation for his congregation who would visit the GKI Rumahtiga Classis, Ambon.
"To accommodate this request, we have deviated the route of KM Dobonsolo from the normal route of Serui directly to Sorong, so for the needs of GKI Immanuel, KM Dobonsolo will stop in Biak," said Dessy.
KM Dobonsolo will make its 15th voyage in 2024 from Jakarta on Saturday (14/9). Specifically for this assignment, the route of the ship with a capacity of 2000 pax is Tanjung Priok - Surabaya - Makassar - Bau Bau - Ambon - Sorong - Serui - Jayapura - Serui - Biak - Sorong - Ambon - Bau Bau - Makassar - Surabaya - Tanjung Priok.
"Biak will be passed by KM Dobonsolo on the return direction after arriving in Jayapura as the final port. KM Dobonsolo is scheduled to dock in Biak on September 24. We apologize if this adjustment causes inconvenience to our prospective passengers, but the KM Dobonsolo route will return to normal on the next voyage," added Dessy.
PELNI itself, Dessy continued, routinely supports religious activities as assigned by the Ministry of Transportation to transport religious participants, especially in eastern Indonesia.
To find out the route and schedule of PELNI ships, the public can contact the Contact Center 021-162 or the Official PELNI WhatsApp at 08111621162. The public is advised to plan their trip by ordering ship tickets well in advance.
PELNI ship tickets themselves can now be purchased through the PELNI Mobile application. PELNI is also collaborating with a number of state-owned banking companies to provide ticket sales services such as the Sukha feature in Livin Mandiri, the Lifestyle feature in BCA Mobile and BNI agen46.
"All of the banking applications mentioned above already support ordering and payment. We continue to encourage the expansion of ticket purchase channels to provide convenience for our customers," said Dessy. With various payment channel options, Dessy hopes that PELNI ship customers can make purchasing tickets through the application their main choice.
