Jakarta, April 23, 2020 - Management of PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) - PT PELNI (Persero) complies with and will carry out regulations issued by the Government related to the prohibition of going home using the sea transportation mode. The ban has been set from 24 April 2020 to 8 June 2020.
Responding to the regulation, PT PELNI (Persero) Head of Corporate Secretariat, Yahya Kuncoro said that Management had decided not to sell tickets to customers until June 8, 2020. "Based on these rules, we will temporarily prepare all our passenger ships to transport logistical cargo. "Management will coordinate with the Ministry of Transportation as the regulator to regulate the route pattern so that it can run optimally," he said.
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic situation, PT PELNI (Persero) is committed to continuing to maximize the services of its ships both for passenger and logistical transport. "PELNI is always ready to operate its ships in turn to areas that keep open their ports for the transport of goods," explained Yahya.
In terms of logistics transportation, Yahya added that around 50 percent of PELNI passenger ships have space that can be maximized to transport container loads, both dry and reefer containers, general cargo. Some ships are even capable of transporting vehicles.
"PELNI itself has a commitment to help fulfill logistics needs in all regions in Indonesia, especially Eastern Indonesia so that it can maintain the stability of the demand for goods in Indonesia," Yahya added.
Meanwhile, PELNI will continue to operate pioneer ships to accommodate the transportation needs of people in the T3P area who want to fulfill their basic needs or work. "Certainly before carrying out operational activities, we will check the health of all the crew on duty in accordance with existing procedures. We will make sure all crew members are in good health and meet the standards for shipping," said Yahya.
Some ships have been scheduled to return to operations, including KM Sinabung to sail on April 24, 2020, from Tg. Priok with the route Tg. Priok - Kijang - Batam - Belawan (PP) replaced the route operated by KM Kelud.
KM Gunung Dempo will operate on April 24, 2020 on the Tg. Priok - Surabaya - Makassar - Ambon - Sorong - Jayapura - Sorong - Makassar - Surabaya - Tg. Priok and do the omission of Manokwari, Nabire, Wasior and deviation in Ambon.
KM Labobar is scheduled to depart from Surabaya Harbor on April 27, 2020 with the route Surabaya - Makassar - ParePare - Balikpapan - Tarakan - Nunukan - Pantoloan - Balikpapan - ParePare - Makassar - Surabaya.
KM Ciremai will depart from Tg. Priok on April 29, 2020 with the route Tg. Priok - Surabaya - Makassar - BauBau - Sorong - Biak - Jayapura - Biak - Sorong - Namlea - BauBau - Makassar - Surabaya - Tg. Priok The ship made a Manokwari omission and deviation in Namlea.
KM Dobonsolo will depart on May 4, 2020 on the Tg. Priok - Surabaya - Makassar - BauBau - Ambon - Sorong - Serui - Jayapura - Sorong - Ambon - BauBau - Makassar - Surabaya - Tg. Priok
KM Nggapulu is scheduled to depart via Tg. Priok on May 6, 2020 on the Tg. Priok - Surabaya - Makassar - BauBau - Ambon - Tual - Dobo (PP). The ship made omissions in Banda, Kaimana and Fak-Fak.
