Jakarta, January 1, 2025 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia, known as PT PELNI (Persero), officially signed an integrated cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Transportation for the implementation of pioneering voyages and the Public Service Obligation (PSO) for economy-class sea transport for the 2025 fiscal year in Jakarta on Tuesday (December 31).
The agreement was signed by PT PELNI (Persero) President Director Tri Andayani and Director of Sea Traffic and Transportation, Dr. Hartanto, M.H., M.Mar.E. The event was also attended by PT PELNI (Persero) board members and several executives from state-owned and private maritime operators.
In 2025, PELNI will operate 25 passenger ships to serve 511 segments with 1,359 routes, calling at 74 ports. This is an increase from 2024, when the company served 482 segments with 1,297 routes and called at 72 ports.
Through this assignment, PELNI President Director Tri Andayani is committed to supporting inter-regional connectivity and actively contributing to improving community welfare through affordable and high-quality transportation.
"As a national shipping company, we bear a significant responsibility to ensure that sea transportation services are affordable, safe, and high-quality, accessible to all Indonesians, particularly in remote and outermost areas," she said.
"We are ready to carry out this mission responsibly. PELNI's services not only ensure passenger and cargo connectivity but also play an essential role in supporting economic development across the archipelago," she added.
For the 2025 assignment, the Ministry of Transportation, particularly the Directorate General of Sea Transportation, has designated PELNI to operate 30 pioneering ship routes, 25 PSO passenger ship routes, 18 redeployment ship routes, 8 sea toll routes, and one livestock ship route.
The sea toll and pioneering voyage programs included in this agreement are designed to enhance logistical distribution efficiency and reduce price disparities between regions.
Meanwhile, the PSO program for economy-class passengers ensures that the public can access safe, affordable, and high-quality sea transportation services.
In carrying out this mission, PELNI continues to collaborate with strategic partners to support the government's vision of equitable development through maritime connectivity.
As directed by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, PELNI is also committed to maintaining service quality, prioritizing maritime safety, and innovating through digitalization to ensure the success of this program.
