PELNI Wins Two Awards from the Ministry of Transportation

As the success in carrying out the assignment of the Tol Laut Program and livestock ships, PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) received an appreciation from the Ministry of Transportation.

Jakarta, July 16, 2020 - As the success in carrying out the assignment of the Tol Laut Program and livestock ships, PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) received an appreciation from the Ministry of Transportation. The event "Awarding of Sea Toll Freight Transportation Service Activities, Livestock Ship Transportation" was attended by all marine transportation industry stakeholders held in Jakarta, Thursday (16/7).

At the event, PT PELNI won two awards at once, "SOE Operators with the Most Load Factors in Semester 1 in Special Animal Transport Service Activities" and "Operators with the Most Loads in Semester 1 Tol Laut Activities".

The award was given directly by the Director of Traffic and Sea Transportation of the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation Capt. Wisnu Handoko and Special Staff of the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia for Inter-Institutional Relations, Buyung Lalana, to PT PELNI's Director of Sea Freight and Tol Laut Business Masrul Khalimi.

After receiving the award, Masrul Khalimi thanked the Ministry of Transportation for the award given to PT PELNI. "This is a matter of pride for us as one of the operators of Tol Laut and livestock ship transportation. We are trying to serve logistics and livestock distribution wholeheartedly for the Indonesian people throughout the archipelago including the 3TP areas, namely Remote, Outermost, Disadvantaged, and Border Areas," he explained. This award further emphasizes the achievement of PT PELNI's performance in the 1st semester of 2020. Until the end of June, PT PELNI recorded an increase in the volume of container cargo transported by cargo ships with an increase of up to 300 percent compared to the same period from the previous year, which increased from 941 TEUs to 2,689 TEUs.

"Even before Idul Adha 1441H, the cows on cattle boats continue to increase. Until mid-July, the cattle load reached 2,968 cows, "explained Masrul.

The two awards received by PELNI are certainly the fruit of the hard work of the PELNI people who continue to carry out their duties properly amid the Covid-19 Pandemic. "We, as PELNI management, would like to thank all PELNI personnel who continue to provide maximum service in the current New Normal Life phase, so that the performance of goods and livestock transportation continues to increase even in the conditions of the Covid-19 Pandemic," Masrul concluded.

The awarding by the Ministry of Transportation of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation was carried out as a token of appreciation for the hard work and serious commitment of the local government and ship operators in Tol Laut services, livestock ship transportation, and pioneer ship maintenance.
