Ahead of Lebaran transportation, six Pelni ships undergo annual maintenance throughout Mar

Jakarta, March 5, 2023 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT Pelni (Persero) scheduled six passenger ships to get annual maintenance this March. This was done to ensure that the entire ship's fleet was ready to face the 2023 Lebaran transportation which began next April.

Head of Secretariat of the Company PT Pelni Opik Taupik said, the maintenance of the ship was an annual schedule. "During the maintenance, we apologize to customers because there are no substitute ships. We urge to be able to adjust travel schedules or look for other transportation options until the maintenance of the ship is complete and again operates," Opik said.

List and schedule of PT Pelni passenger ships that will undergo treatment this March, namely:

1. KM Lambelu (15 February - March 25): Makassar - Pare Pare - Balikpapan - Pantoloan - Tarakan - Nunukan (PP);

2. KM Leuser (1 - March 16): Makassar - Bau Bau - Wanci - Namrole - Ambon - Saumlaki - Tual - Dobo - Timika - Agats - Merauke (PP);

3. KM Sinabung (17 - 30 March): Surabaya - Makassar - Bau Bau - Banggai - Bitung - Ternate - Bacan - Sorong - Manokwari - Biak - Jayapura (PP);

4. KM Bukit Siguntang (6 - 28 March): Makassar - Maumere - Lewoleba - Kupang - Lewoleba - Maumere - Makassar - Pare Pare - Balikpapan - Tarakan - Tarakan - Nunukan (PP);

5. KM AWU (13 - 25 March): Surabaya - Kumai - Surabaya - Benoa -Bima - Waingapu - Ende - Kupang - Kalabahi (PP);

6. KM Nggapulu (16 February - March 19): Tanjung Priok - Surabaya - Makassar - Bau Bau - Ambon - Banda - Tual - Dobo - Kaimana - Fak Fak (PP).

Of the six ships above, five of them underwent treatment at PT PAL Surabaya's dock with a length of 14-45 days. Maintenance is carried out starting from painting, repairing safety facilities to thickening of the ship plate.

To be a concern, Opik added, with KM Lambelu and KM Bukit Siguntang undergoing together treatment, the route in the central region of Indonesia will experience the vacancy of the Pelni ship until the time of treatment both are completed.

"We hope our loyal customers can adjust their travel schedules until the two ships have finished undergoing maintenance and are ready to serve the route. We try to schedule a timely maintenance and our customers can return to sailing by Pelni," explained Opik.

Lebaran 2023 transportation will take place during the period of April 7 to May 8, 2023. During this period, PT Pelni will prepare 26 passenger ships to serve 70 Singgah Ports and 42 pioneering ships to serve 273 Singgah Ports.

Pelni as a state -owned business entity company engaged in shipping services currently operates 26 passenger ships serving 1,058 segments and stopped by 71 ports.

In addition to passenger transportation, Pelni also serves 42 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP region, where pioneering ships stopped by 273 ports with a total of 3,495 segments. Pelni also operates as many as 16 Rede ships. For logistics business services, Pelni currently operates 10 sea toll routes and 1 special route for livestock ships.
