Jakarta, 28 June 2021 - Observing the increase in Covid-19 cases in Indonesia, PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) always reminds PELNI ship passengers to comply with health protocols. The company is consistent in implementing health protocols according to the rules of the Covid-19 Task Force Number 12 of 2021 and the SE of the Ministry of Transportation Number 25 of 2021.
Acting. Head of the Corporate Secretariat of PT PELNI Opik Taupik said this was done in order to provide safe, comfortable shipping, and maintain the health of all customers and ship crews. As a travel document requirement, all prospective passengers are required to include a letter of antigen or PCR examination results with a validity period of 3 x 24 hours. "PT PELNI as the ship operator is committed to tightening health protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19," said Opik.
Opik Taufik also reminded all prospective passengers, in order to protect all crew on duty and other passengers in order to ensure health conditions are in good condition and healthy to travel before traveling on the PELNI ship. Passengers can delay departure or apply for a refund and it will be processed in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Company.
Meanwhile, PELNI also invites stakeholder cooperation to jointly prevent the spread of Covid-19 in sea transportation. So that the screening of passengers is really carried out starting from the passengers in the port area (pre on board), being on the ship (on board), and when the passengers return down to the port area (post on board).
"The company expects the cooperation of all port stakeholders to implement strict health protocols in screening passengers starting when they enter the port terminal area until they arrive at the port of destination," he added.
As a form of the Company's seriousness in improving health protocols in shipping, currently 26 PELNI passenger ships have been equipped with GeNose C-19 facilities. The company provides GeNose facilities as a health screening tool for all ship crews on duty. "This facility can also be used by ship passengers to conduct health screenings who suddenly have certain symptoms during the voyage. Please contact the ship's health officer to do the GeNose C-19 test," he explained.
The ship's crew also routinely sprays disinfectants and cleans the ship's rooms, passenger seats/mattresses, and provides hand sanitizer at the corners of the ship. While on board the ship, passengers are also required to wear masks and maintain a distance between passengers as well as a number of requirements for implementing other health protocols.
For information, from January 1, 2021 to June 27, 2021, the Company noted that the fleet of passenger and pioneer ships operated by PELNI had delivered a total of 1,206,558 passengers. Opik Taupik detailed that 946,894 passengers had traveled by passenger ship and 259,664 passengers had traveled by pioneer ship. This number of passengers is fixed by applying 50% of the installed capacity as part of the implementation of the health protocol.
