Jakarta, May 04 2022 - Anticipating a surge of homecomers from Sumatra to Java in the upcoming return, the Ministry of Transportation has assigned PELNI ships to be on standby to sail the Panjang Port route, Lampung to Ciwandan Port, Cilegon. KM Ciremai, which was originally supposed to sail to the east, arrived in Surabaya, Sunday (1/5) yesterday, "cikar right" aka turning back to Lampung.
Head of PT PELNI Corporate Secretariat Opik Taupik said KM Ciremai was alerted to serve this special route until Saturday (7/5). "KM Ciremai, which has sent participants for Free Motorcycle Homecoming at Surabaya's Tanjung Perak Port, is currently receiving the assignment," said Opik.
Furthermore, it was explained that KM Ciremai is planning to help carry passengers on the ASDP ferry. "PELNI does not sell tickets for the route during operation, so the PELNI ship is only tasked with delivering passengers. Tickets are still purchased online to ASDP through the Ferizy ticket purchase application," he added.
On Friday (29/4), KM Ciremai departed from Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, bringing participants for the Free Motorcycle Homecoming to Semarang and Surabaya. If according to schedule, KM Ciremai will continue its voyage to Makassar to Sorong.
KM Ciremai itself is a multi-functional ship owned by PELNI because it can transport passengers, vehicles, and goods. This ship has a carrying capacity of 948 pax passengers, 1,700 vehicles (motorcycles and small vehicles), and 65 TEUs for freight transport.
Specifically for this return assignment, KM Ciremai made shipping adjustments to the route of Surabaya - Semarang - Lampung - Cilegon - Surabaya - Semarang - Tg. Priok.
"KM Ciremai will go to Surabaya on Saturday (7/5) to carry out an assignment from the Ministry of Transportation in the free motorbike homecoming program by ship. The ship will depart from Surabaya on Monday (9/5) to Semarang and end at Tg Port. . Priok, Jakarta," he explained.
