KM Dobonsolo Enters Dry Dock for Eid Transport Preparation

Jakarta, January 22, 2025 – PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia, or PT PELNI (Persero), announces that one of its passenger ships, KM Dobonsolo, will undergo docking in Jakarta from January 20 to February 9. Prospective passengers along KM Dobonsolo's route will still be served by other PELNI passenger ships operating on the same route.

PELNI's Director of Fleet and Engineering, Robert MP Sinaga, explained that KM Dobonsolo's docking is part of the company's scheduled annual maintenance. During the docking process, the ship will undergo inspections, maintenance, and replacement of necessary components.

"KM Dobonsolo is one of the passenger ships operating on a busy route. Through this docking process, we will inspect and repair the ship’s hull, engine system, propellers, as well as safety equipment such as lifeboats and fire extinguishers," said Robert during his visit to KM Dobonsolo at PT Dok dan Perkapalan Kodja Bahari’s shipyard in North Jakarta on Wednesday (22/1).

The docking process also includes repainting the ship's body to prevent corrosion from seawater exposure and upgrading onboard facilities to enhance passenger comfort.

During the docking period, PELNI will adjust its sailing schedule to optimize passenger services on routes usually served by KM Dobonsolo.

PELNI’s Director of Passenger Transportation Business, Nuraini Dessy, stated that passengers on KM Dobonsolo’s route can opt for KM Ciremai and KM Gunung Dempo. "We apologize for this adjustment. KM Dobonsolo is scheduled to resume operations on February 9. This annual maintenance is also part of our preparations for the upcoming Eid transport season," added Dessy.

In 2025, KM Dobonsolo serves two main routes:

  • Route A (Round Trip): Tanjung Priok – Surabaya – Makassar – Bau-Bau – Sorong – Manokwari – Biak – Jayapura.
