Jakarta, 18 May 2020 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) - PT PELNI (Persero) is currently preparing itself for the implementation of "New Normal Life", after even two months of implementing the Work From Home (WFH) policy for its land employees and the implementation of the scheme The port stay alternates with passenger ships carrying only logistical transport. This was done to support the Government's strategic steps in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia.

"The scenario being developed is aimed at all employees, partners, and customers of PELNI vessels by increasing the use of technology and digitalization," explained Insan Purwarisya L. Tobing, President Director of PT PELNI (Persero).

Further disclosed by the Head of Corporate Secretariat PT PELNI (Persero), Yahya Kuncoro, that the use of technology and digitalization in the Company's environment will be increased in order to minimize physical contact during work activities. Management also began planning flexible working time for all PELNI employees.

The new normal life scenario is implemented as a follow-up to a letter from the Minister of SOE No: S-336 / MBU / 05/2020 Regarding Anticipation of the New Normal State-Owned Enterprise Scenario, on May 15, 2020.

"Management is currently developing strategies and steps to be taken after Eid later for all employees, especially for the crew as a fortress in carrying out the Company's operational activities. In addition, we also prepare protocols and steps for the safety of ship customers, "said Yahya.

In order to anticipate the impact of Covid-19 that can make the Company experience a new normal life phase, PELNI takes anticipatory steps to keep the Company's business going. So, through the Directors Decree, Management has formed a task force handling team Covid-19 in anticipating the new normal life phase at PT PELNI (Persero).

"The task force team is formed with the function and task of preparing the Company's policy plans and preparing the Company in anticipation of a new normal life phase within the Company," Insan explained.

In line with this, Yahya added that during the new normal life phase, employees under the age of 45 years will be given permission to work in the post-Eid office later. To support this, PELNI Management will further tighten the health supervision process in accordance with Government directives.

"The implementation of physical distancing, the obligation to use masks while in the area of the work environment, checking body temperature, and maintaining the cleanliness of the work environment will be tightened and of course we will supervise especially the crew and fleet," added Yahya.

As a first step, PELNI has implemented the sale of non-homecoming tickets for passengers in accordance with the requirements of the Covid-19 Task Force No. 4/2020 and SE Director-General Hubla No. 21/2020.

At this stage, all prospective passengers who will use the PELNI ship are required to include a health certificate or negative statement from Covid-19 based on the results of a rapid test, a letter of assignment signed by an echelon 2 level official or company directors, and report on a travel plan to be presented at the time of purchase ticket. Prospective passengers are also encouraged to make cashless payments.

"Management will sell tickets around 50 percent of the installed capacity to maintain distance between passengers during the trip (physical distancing) and limit interactions between ship officers and passengers," Insan concluded.
