Surabaya, 9 March 2023 - - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) sent relief goods to victims of floods and landslides in Serasan District, Natuna Regency, Riau Islands. The relief goods were sent using KM Bukit Raya when they docked at the Port of Tanjung Perak, Surabaya, Thursday (9/3).
Director of PT PELNI Yossianis Marciano was present to witness the loading of the relief goods onto the ship accompanied by the Head of the Surabaya Branch Haeru Rijal and the Captain of KM Bukit Raya Heri Sasongko. "This assistance is on behalf of the PELNI Group along with our two subsidiaries, PELNI Logistics and PELNI Services, with the hope of alleviating the suffering of our brothers and sisters who were hit by a landslide in Serasan, Natuna. It is hoped that this aid will arrive in Serasa, Monday (13/3) forward," said Yoshi.
The aid items sent consisted of folding mattresses, blankets, children's and adult clothes, diapers to raincoats. The total aid cargo that was put on board reached 14 large packages. This amount will increase with aid from the Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL) loaded from Pontianak Port.
"Serasan and Natuna themselves are ports visited by PELNI ships, especially Bukit Raya, so we feel obliged to pay attention to our brothers and sisters there," added Yossi.
KM Bukit Raya itself is one of 26 PELNI passenger ships serving the Tanjung Priok Blinyu Kijang Letung Tarempa Natuna Midai Serasan Pontianak Surabaya (PP) route. At the same time, apart from the relief goods from the PELNI Group, KM Bukit Raya also brought relief goods from the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs and PT Jamkrindo (Persero).
PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise engaged in shipping services currently operates 26 Passenger Ships serving 1,058 sections and visiting 71 ports.
Apart from passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 42 Pioneer Ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area, where Pioneer Ships stop at 273 ports with a total of 3,495 sections. PELNI also operates as many as 16 Rede Ships. For logistics business services, currently PELNI operates 10 Sea Highway routes and 1 special route for Livestock Vessels.
