PELNI Predicts Tomorrow as Peak of Eid Return Travel, Urges Passengers to Check In via PELNI Mobile

Jakarta, April 6, 2025 — PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) projects that the peak of the 2025 Eid return travel on PELNI vessels will occur on April 7, 2025, or 6 days after Eid al-Fitr 1446 H. To handle the anticipated surge in passengers during this period, PELNI has prepared several anticipatory measures to ensure smooth operations.

PELNI Corporate Secretary Evan Eryanto stated that during the return travel peak tomorrow, the number of passengers is expected to exceed 25,000 people.
"Since the return flow began on H+1 (April 2), the highest passenger number was recorded on H+3 at 25,430 people. If tomorrow truly marks the peak, it will surpass the figure from April 4," said Evan.

As of Sunday (April 6) afternoon, a total of 21,410 PELNI ship tickets have already been sold for travel on Monday (April 7).

In anticipation of the return wave, PELNI has ensured that all vessels are seaworthy. Several facilities have also been provided for passenger comfort, including commercial WiFi, TV channels, onboard restaurants, clinics, and mini theaters.

For those planning to travel during the return flow, Evan urged ticket holders to check in via the PELNI Mobile app to avoid congestion during the boarding process at the ports. He also reminded passengers to carry valid identification documents that match the name of the person traveling.

"We remain committed to delivering the best service to all PELNI passengers. Our crew will be on standby 24 hours a day to maintain the cleanliness of cabins, restrooms, and public areas, as well as to assist passengers in need, such as the elderly, pregnant women, or children," Evan concluded.

PELNI has also established homecoming service posts at three ports: Bau-Bau, Batam, and Semarang. These posts offer free health checks and massage services, available to both passengers and non-passengers during the homecoming period.

Based on data from April 2 to 6, 2025, the five busiest routes served by PELNI passenger vessels during the return season are:
