PELNI Supports the Free Homecoming Program for Motorcycles

KM Dobonsolo and KM Ciremai are capable of transporting up to 2,500 travelers and 1,250 motorbikes.

Jakarta, 19 April 2022 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) will deploy KM Dobonsolo and KM Ciremai to support the implementation of the free motorbike homecoming program in 2022 as an initiation program of the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation. KM Dobonsolo and KM Ciremai are capable of transporting up to 2,500 travelers and 1,250 motorbikes.

Head of the Corporate Secretariat of PT PELNI Opik Taupik said that after two years there was no free homecoming program due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year PELNI was again involved in supporting the Ministry of Transportation's program during the Eid transportation season. The routes that will be served in the program include Jakarta - Semarang - Surabaya. "Homecomers to Semarang and Surabaya can take advantage of this program. Motorized vehicles can be transported by PELNI ship to be used at their destination," said Opik.

Opik detailed that the first departure will be with KM Dobonsolo on Tuesday (26/4) and then KM Ciremai on Friday (29/4). Meanwhile, for the return flow of free motorbikes, starting from Surabaya on Monday (9/5) with KM Ciremai and then KM Dobonsolo on Wednesday (11/5).

KM Ciremai and KM Dobonsolo are ships with a capacity of 2,000 pax with a type of 3 in 1. These ships can not only carry passengers, but can also transport goods and vehicles. During the 2022 Eid transportation period, KM Ciremai sails the Tanjung Priok - Semarang - Surabaya - Makassar - BauBau - Sorong (PP) route. Meanwhile, KM Dobonsolo sails the Tanjung Priok - Semarang - Surabaya - Makassar - BauBau - Ambon - Sorong - Serui - Jayapura (PP) route.

For information, in the free homecoming program held in 2019, PT PELNI has delivered as many as 11,007 travelers and brought as many as 4,796 motorcycle units.

Registration for free motorbike homecoming will be open from April 18 to 24 through the homecoming website for free.dephub.go.id. The identity that will become a unique code is the STNK number and KTP of the head of the family. Applicants can also bring small children under the age of 10 years, a maximum of 2 people by showing a Family Card or a copy. "Participants are required to verify data a maximum of 3 days after registration. If the verification is late, it will be put on a waiting list and if the quota is fully filled, then they cannot participate in this program," he explained.

Registration is also carried out offline at the Tanjung Priok Main Port Authority Office and at the Ministry of Transportation Head Office page from April 22 to 24.

In order to take part in the program, travelers must comply with the following requirements:

1. Have a valid STNK and SIM

2. The condition of the motorbike is roadworthy

3. There should be no modifications/additional accessories on the vehicle that can interfere with the lashing process (binding the vehicle on the ship)

4. There must be a buffer/middle standard (standard two)

5. Must be equipped with rear handle

6. Standard wheel and tire sizes or as per manufacturer's specifications

7. No left, right, or back side boxes are allowed

8. The number of helmets must match the number of passengers

9. Motorcycle gasoline at the time of transportation must be in a maximum condition of 1 (one) liter/motorcycle

10. Motorcycle keys can be entrusted to the officer/executive committee
