Jakarta, 9 April 2021 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia - PT PELNI (Persero) as a maritime shipping and logistics company provides two fleets of passenger ships, KM Awu and KM Egon, to transport humanitarian aid for victims of natural disasters in the East Nusa Tenggara region. The two ships will carry aid with departure points from Surabaya to Waingapu and Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. "For the transportation of the first relief goods, the company will dispatch KM Egon on Saturday (10/4) and is scheduled to arrive at Waingapu Port on Tuesday (13/4)," explained Opik Taupik.
For the second ship, KM Awu is scheduled to depart from Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya on Monday (12/4) and is scheduled to arrive at Waingapu Port on Thursday (15/4) and arrive at Kupang Port on Friday (16/4). Opik Taupik added that in sending humanitarian aid, the ships had been prepared to carry basic necessities, daily necessities, vehicles, and volunteers / medical personnel.
"KM Egon is a Ro-Ro type ship with a capacity of 500 pax. The ship is capable of carrying passengers, cargo, and motorized vehicles. We sincerely hope that all levels of society can take advantage of this moment to be able to alleviate the suffering of our relatives in disaster-affected areas," he explained .
Opik Taupik also added that in addition to deploying two PELNI ships to transport disaster relief to the NTT region, PT PELNI (Persero) also distributed assistance to affected victims worth IDR 100,000,000 as a form of Company's concern. This assistance is manifested in the form of goods to be transported by KM Egon which will depart from Surabaya with KM Egon (10/4).
