Jakarta, 29 March 2021 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero), as a maritime shipping and logistics company, supports the policy of implementing GeNose C19 as an alternative departure requirement for PELNI ships. This policy will take effect starting April 1, 2021 in accordance with SE of the Covid-19 Handling Task Force Number 12 of 2021 concerning Provisions for the Travel of Domestic People During the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Pandemic.

The Head of the PT PELNI Corporate Secretariat Opik Taupik said that according to these regulations the requirements for sea transportation travelers are to show a negative result of the RT-PCR test or a negative result of the rapid antigen test, the sample of which is taken within a maximum period of 3x24 hours before departure and fill out e-HAC Indonesia.
"The inspection for GeNose C19 will be carried out at the port on the day of departure. If during the GeNose C19 test on the D day a positive result is found on a prospective passenger, a rapid antigen test will be carried out through the authorized health personnel at the port, "explained Opik.
Meanwhile, if the rapid antigen test result is negative, the passenger is allowed to continue the journey using the PELNI ship. "If the test results remain positive, then the company will return or refund the ticket 100 percent for the prospective passenger and the refund is in accordance with the applicable provisions in the company," he said.
Technically, the implementation of the alternative GeNose C19 at the port will be divided into three stages. The first phase starts on April 1 at the Port of Tanjung Priok-Jakarta, Port of Tanjung Perak-Surabaya, Port of Belawan-Medan, and Port of Soekarno Hatta-Makassar in the period April to June 2021. Furthermore, the second stage is the first class port from June to September. 2021, and the third stage of all ports serving sea transportation passengers starting September 2021.
"The implementation of the GeNose C19 alternative will be carried out in stages, and we hope that in September 2021 all ports will implement the GeNose C19 inspection test," explained Opik.
PT PELNI appealed to all PELNI passengers who wish to use the GeNose C19 inspection test to fast 30 minutes before undergoing the examination. Fasting means the prohibition of eating and drinking, except for mineral water, including for the prohibition of smoking.
"We also remind every prospective passenger to comply with these rules, considering that the GeNose C19 device is sensitive to air with strong odors such as perfume, cigarette smoke, and handsanitizers," said Opik.
Opik added, as the Company's effort to strengthen the implementation of the health protocol on PELNI vessels, the Company will provide 26 units of GeNose C19 for 26 passenger ships for ship crews on duty during the voyage. "Each ship will be provided with one unit of GeNose C19 equipment for inspection of ship crews who are on regular duty to ensure the health of the crew while serving the voyage," added Opik.
For PELNI ship customers, booking ship tickets can be made through the PELNI Mobile Apps and the Company's official website www.pelni.co.id. "We also have 162 call centers and services via WhatsApp at 0811-162-1-162 for 24 hours to meet the information needs of all PELNI ship customers," concluded Opik.
PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise which is engaged in sea transportation has operated 26 passenger ships and stopped at 76 ports and served 1,058 segments.
Apart from passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 45 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area where pioneer ships stop at 285 ports with 3,811 sections. PELNI also operates 16 Rede ships. Meanwhile, in logistics business services, PELNI now operates 9 sea highway routes and 1 special route for livestock transportation.
