PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (PELNI) carried out a mangrove planting and beach cleanup activity along the southern coast of Kesunean Beach, Cirebon, on Friday (27/12). This initiative, part of the company’s Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSR) program, aims to support coastal ecosystem conservation, reduce abrasion, and raise public awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean environment.
A total of 2,000 mangrove seedlings were planted in strategic coastal areas, with the participation of 150 volunteers from the local community. The event was attended by PELNI’s Vice President of Treasury, Fauziah Ferryna; Cirebon City Secretary, Iing Daiman; representatives from the City’s Environmental Agency; Nusantara Volunteers; environmental communities; and several local public figures.
According to Fauziah Ferryna, the activity represents PELNI’s concrete support for environmental preservation. “This activity reflects PELNI’s commitment to actively contribute to environmental sustainability. Through this CSR program, we hope to bring positive impacts to coastal ecosystems while also increasing public awareness about the importance of environmental cleanliness and sustainability,” she stated.
In addition to mangrove planting, participants also joined a beach cleanup by collecting trash along the shoreline. The activity not only helps to maintain the cleanliness of the beach area, but also serves as an educational effort to instill the value of nature conservation for future generations.
PELNI remains committed to continuing CSR initiatives that benefit both society and the environment. Through such programs, the company aims to set an example of a responsible corporation that consistently supports sustainable development efforts.
All of PELNI’s CSR programs are aligned with the pillars of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), launched by the United Nations and adopted by Indonesia’s Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises. These pillars include social, economic, environmental, and governance aspects that serve as the foundation for CSR across all SOEs.
