PELNI Ships Serve 304 Thousand Passengers During Homecoming Period
Jakarta, April 13, 2024 - - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) has served 304,160 passengers during the homecoming period of PELNI ships which took place from March 26 to April 11, 2024. This number consisted of 264,754 passengers departing by passenger ships and 39,406 passengers by pioneer ships.
Head of PELNI Corporate Secretariat Evan Eryanto said that the realization was 5.22 percent higher than the company's homecoming flow projection of 289,057 passengers. "The peak of the PELNI ship homecoming flow occurred on D-5 or April 5 with the number of passengers transported amounting to 26,692 passengers," he explained.
Evan added that the company is now focusing on the return flow of Eid transportation services in 2024 which began on Friday (12/4). As of Saturday (13/4), company data showed that 148,724 tickets had been sold for passenger ships and 2,914 tickets for pioneer ships. This number will continue to increase considering that the return flow period for Eid transportation for PELNI ships ends on April 26.
"The company predicts that the peak of the return flow of PELNI ships will occur on D+10 (21 April) with a projection of 25,425 passengers to be transported," he explained.
He appealed to prospective passengers to buy ship tickets through official channels such as the PELNI Mobile application, the website pelni.co.id, the PELNI 162 call center, branch office counters or partners who have collaborated with PELNI.
Until D+2, the company noted that there were 5 densest routes for 2024 Eid transportation including the Batam - Belawan route with a total of 16,434 passengers, Belawan - Batam (14,650), Kumai - Semarang (12,389), Balikpapan - Surabaya (10,794) and Makassar - Surabaya (9,838).
Meanwhile, the most crowded ports were recorded in the Makassar area with a total of 36,776 passengers, Balikpapan (30,655), Ambon (27,153), Batam (23,980) and Bau-Bau (22,624).
For the distribution of PELNI ship passengers, it is dominated by the central region by 43.1 percent or 178,099 passengers. Followed by the western region (319 percent or 131,697 passengers) and the eastern region (25.1 percent or 103,682 passengers).
