Batu Licin, 07 Februari 2019-Dalam rangka menciptakan lingkungan laut yang bersih PT PELNI (Persero) membangun pusat pengelolaan dan pengolahan sampah di Batu Licin, Kalimantan Selatan. Pengolahan sampah ini diberi nama “Rumah Kelola Sampah”, suatu Rumah Produksi dan Edukasi Pengolahan Sampah PELNI yang dikerjakan secara gotong royong oleh kelompok masyarakat. Peresmian dilakukan oleh Direktur Utama PT PELNI (Persero), Insan Purwarisya L. Tobing bersama Bupati Tanah Bumbu, H. Sudian Noor, di Batu Licin, Tanah Bumbu, Kalimantan Selatan, Kamis (7-2-2019).
Direktur Utama PT PELNI (Persero) Insan Purwarisya L. Tobing dalam sambutannya mengatakan, kehadiran Rumah Kelola Sampah PELNI sangat diperlukan untuk mengolah sampah dari masyarakat dan juga dari kapal PELNI yang singgah di Batu Licin. Hal ini untuk mendukung program PELNI peduli lingkungan sekaligus pemberdayaan dengan melakukan pembinaan kepada masyarakat untuk mengelola sampah menjadi berbagai jenis produk bernilai jual serta juga sebagai sarana edukasi “sekolah sampah”.
Dalam kepeduliannya terhadap lingkungan PT PELNI (Persero) tidak hanya bergerak dalam kegiatan pembinaan masyarakat dalam pengelolaan sampah di Tanah Bumbu, Kalimantan Selatan saja, tetapi juga melakukan Revitalisasi Terumbu Karang di Kepulauan Seribu, DKI Jakarta dan Pulau Bangka, Sulawesi Utara.
Dalam dua tahun terakhir PT PELNI (Persero) telah melakukan Program Kemitraan dan Bina Lingkungan (PKBL) di beberapa wilayah di Indonesia dengan total nilai penyaluran sebesar Rp 8.322 juta, terdiri dari penyaluran Program Kemitraan (PK) dalam bentuk pinjaman lunak untuk meningkatkan ekonomi masyarakat mencapai Rp 3.070 juta di tahun 2017 dan Rp 2.935 juta di tahun 2018. Sedangkan penyaluran Program Bina Lingkungan (BL) yang merupakan bantuan murni perusahaan untuk perbaikan lingkungan dan masyarakat serta bantuan lainnya yang dikemas dalam BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri dengan nilai sebesar Rp 814 juta di tahun 2017 sedangkan di tahun 2018 mencapai Rp 1.503 juta.
Sedangkan untuk program Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) pada tahun 2017 teralisasi Rp 500 juta, sedangkan realisasi di tahun pada 2018 sebesar Rp 750 juta. Pelaksanaan program CSR meliputi bidang pendidikan dengan meningkatkan mutu pendidik madrasah di Kota Baubau, Sulwesi Tenggara, pembuatan Taman Bacaan di Tarempa, Kabupaten Kepulauan Anambas, Kepulauan Riau dan program keselamatan pelayaran berupa pembagian 2.000 life jacket kepada pelaku pelayaran rakyat (Pelra) di 6 kota, Makasar, Manado, Ambon, Surabaya, Balikpapan dan Kupang.*
