Jakarta, August 28, 2020 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) received a visit from the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) that wanted to see the implementation of the COVID-19 health protocol in the Company's environment. The Chairperson of the NTSC appreciated the implementation of PT PELNI's health protocol which was considered to be running well and comprehensive.
The visit and review of health protocols attended by four Directors of PT PELNI, Chairman of the KNKT Soerjanto Thahjono, and the Tanjung Priok Port Authority Capt. Mugen Suprihatin Sartoto. The event was held above KM Dobonsolo when it docked at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, Thursday (27/8).
President Director of PT PELNI Insan Purwarisya L Tobing said that this event was carried out as PELNI's effort to break the chain of spreading COVID-19. "PELNI invites the NTSC to have a visit on our ships as well as evaluate the implementation of the COVID-19 health protocol within PT PELNI. We are trying to consistently perfect the Company's health protocol to comply with regulations from the Government and in the maritime sector," explained Insan.
On this occasion, Soerjanto Thahjono appreciated the complete health protocol that PELNI has and the implementation of health protocols that have been running well in the Company's environment, both on land and sea, especially on passenger ships.
Responding to this appreciation, Insan expressed his management gratitude to the COVID-19 Team and all employees who tirelessly apply health protocols while in the work environment or when with family. "The fight against COVID is not over yet, so we continue to remind all of our employees and customers to keep their distance, always use masks and wash their hands diligently," he concluded.
On the same occasion, the Head of Corporate Secretary of PT PELNI Yahya Kuncoro said that PELNI always prioritizes the implementation of health protocols, especially when ships are again allowed to operate. "The company continues to actively strive to prevent the spread of COVID by implementing SOPs in all its operational activities following the regulations issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Health and the COVID-19 Task Force," he explained.
PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise engaged in the field of sea transportation has currently operated as many as 26 passenger ships and visited 83 ports and served 1,100 sections.
In addition to passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 45 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the T3P area where pioneer vessels stop at 275 ports with 3,739 sections. PELNI also operates a total of 20 Rede vessels.
Whereas in the logistics business services, PELNI now operates 4 cargo ships, 8 sea toll vessels and 1 special cattle ship.
