PELNI Collaborates with PT Skyreach for Procurement of Ship Communication System for 26 Ve

PT PELNI (Persero) cooperates with PT Skyreach, to procure a Ship Communication System (SisKomKap) for 26 PT PELNI (Persero) vessels in 2022-2025.

Jakarta, February 9, 2022 – In an effort to realize the company's commitment to implementing the principles of Good Corporate Governance, PT PELNI (Persero) cooperates with PT Skyreach, as a satellite-based telecommunications service provider in Indonesia, to procure a communication system Ships (SisKomKap) for 26 PT PELNI (Persero) vessels in 2022-2025.

In the official kick off meeting between the board of directors of PT Skyreach and the board of directors of PT PELNI (Persero) which was held online, Wednesday (9/2), CEO of PT Skyreach, Rudy Hartoyo explained the various facilities owned by PT Skyreach, including infrastructure owned by PT Skyreach. and self-operated, 24/7 customer service, the latest technology, speed and accuracy of work, and an expert work team.

“The maritime VSAT services we provide to PT PELNI include Ku-Band VSAT connections using 4 satellites via the Skyreach earth station in Cikarang – West Java, along with diversity (backup) via the Skryeach earth station in Jakarta. Reliability is improved with the completeness of backup connections using Thuraya Orion IP and MarineStar devices via the 5th satellite, Thuraya," explained Rudy Haryoto in a press release on Wednesday (9/2).

Rudy added, “By using the Sailink Navigator Plus application and the Sailink Mobile Apps, PELNI management can monitor activities and operations as well as communicate with the crew on board at any time. We also provide technological convergence for PELNI which will bring PELNI ready to compete in the Industrial Revolution 4.0.”

On the same occasion, Plt. President Director of PT PELNI Ony Suprihartono emphasized the importance of synergy to realize good corporate governance, namely security, high accessibility that is integrated, organized, smooth, fast, orderly and comfortable. The presence of SisKomKap on all PELNI ships also further supports the implementation of digitalization within the PELNI environment as part of improving ship operational services, where in 2021 the Company has transported 2,284,080 passengers.

"This collaboration is expected to be able to serve PELNI's internal needs for communication networks and ship monitoring so that it can fulfill our vision of becoming the best maritime shipping and logistics company in Southeast Asia," said Ony.

For information, SisKomKap has been implemented on PELNI vessels since 2016. SisKomKap on board is needed to support and fulfill communication needs that connect all activities and business processes at the Head Office to ships with uplink bandwidth of 2,048 kbps and 4096 kbps downlink. "This is needed to simplify and speed up the coordination and service process with all PELNI ship crews in real time," added Ony.

PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise engaged in sea transportation has currently operated 26 passenger ships and stopped at 76 ports and served 1,058 segments.

In addition to passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 44 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area, where pioneer ships stop at 285 ports with 3,695 segments. PELNI also operates 16 Rede vessels. Meanwhile, in logistics business services, PELNI now operates 10 sea toll routes and 1 special route for livestock transportation.
