Smooth, PELNI Completes Return Flow of Free Motorcycle Homecoming Transportation 2024
Jakarta, April 16, 2024 -- The second wave of return flow in the 2024 Free Motorcycle Homecoming Program with KM Dobonsolo owned by PT PELNI (Persero) arrived at Tanjung Priok Port, Tuesday (16/4). A total of 2,423 participants and 1,008 motorcycles participated in the last wave of the program organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation departing from Semarang.
Head of PELNI Corporate Secretariat Evan Eryanto expressed his gratitude to all parties involved during the homecoming and return flow activities. "We appreciate all agencies and institutions involved, both in Jakarta and Semarang, especially the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation which has again entrusted PELNI as the operator of free motorcycle homecoming transportation," said Evan.
This year, the Ministry of Transportation assigned PELNI to carry out four motorcycle homecoming trips, divided into two trips for the Jakarta-Semarang homecoming flow, and two trips for the Semarang-Jakarta return flow.
"In total, we transported 9,635 participants for the homecoming and return flows, with a total of 4,106 motorcycles. Alhamdulillah, this number shows the enthusiasm and awareness of the community in utilizing this free homecoming program," added Evan.
As in previous years, PELNI uses one of its passenger ships, KM Dobonsolo to carry out the assignment of transporting motorcycle homecoming passengers. KM Dobonsolo is a type 2000 passenger ship made in Germany in 1992. The ship, which was originally able to accommodate 2,000 people, can now only carry 1,000 people after being modified or overhauled in early 2000 so that it can transport passengers as well as containers and four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles.
For the 2024 Free Motorcycle Homecoming service, KM Dobonsolo is captained by Capt. Hery Setyadi was assisted by approximately 100 crew members.
