Head of PT PELNI Corporate Secretariat Opik Taupik said, of the 26 passenger ships, seven PELNI ships will continue to sail on the regular route, while 13 PELNI ships will receive route adjustments. He detailed seven PELNI ships sailing in their normal path, namely KM Lambelu, KM Dobonsolo, KM Dorolonda, KM Awu, KM Kelud, KM Nggapulu, and KM Willis.
As a result of operational adjustments, there are a number of areas that are temporarily not served by 13 PELNI passenger ships. Areas that are not temporarily served are Pantoloan, Central Sulawesi (KM Labobar); Nabire, Papua (KM Tidar); Manokwari, West Papua (KM Tidar); Bacan Island, North Maluku (KM Sinabung); Slide Island, Maluku (KM Pangrango); Raha, Southeast Sulawesi (KM Tilongkabila); Gorontalo, North Sulawesi (KM Tilongkabila); Benoa, Bali (KM Binaiya); Labuan Bajo, NTT (KM Binaiya); Lewoleba, NTT (KM Sirimau, KM Bukit Siguntang, KM Umsini); Agats, Papua (KM Sirimau, KM Leuser, KM Tatamailau); Merauke, Papua (KM Tatamailau); Wasior, West Papua (KM Gunung Dempo); Kijang, Kep. Riau (KM Umsini, KM Bukit Raya); Pontianak, West Kalimantan (KM Bukit Raya); Surabaya, East Java (KM Bukit Raya).
Meanwhile, several ships will divert routes to serve other areas, including Patimban, West Java (KM Gunung Dempo); Batam, Kep. Riau (KM Umsini and KM Bukit Raya); and Larantuka, East Nusa Tenggara (KM Bukit Siguntang).
In addition to stopping serving a number of areas, the Company has also flown four other passenger ships, such as KM Lawit, KM Kelimutu, KM Sangiang, and KM Jetliner. "Currently KM Ciremai and KM Egon have not been able to serve the transportation needs of the community because they are undergoing annual ship maintenance (docking)," added Opik.
For information, during the first 5 days of the Java Bali Emergency PPKM implementation from July 3 to 7, 2021, the Company recorded the number of passengers who had traveled with the PELNI ship as many as 36,856 passengers. Opik Taupik explained that as many as 30,892 passengers had traveled by passenger ship with an average of 6,178 passengers per day. While the pioneer ship passengers were recorded as 5,964 passengers with an average of 1,193 passengers per day. The number of passengers is determined by applying 50% of the installed capacity as part of the implementation of the health protocol.
Meanwhile, compared to one week before the implementation of the Java-Bali Emergency PPKM, the average number of daily passengers on PELNI ships has decreased. In the period from June 26 to July 2 2021, the daily average of passengers on PELNI passenger ships decreased by 21 percent from 7,836 passengers to 6,178 passengers. Meanwhile, the daily average of pioneer ship passengers decreased by 25% from 1,591 passengers to 1,193 passengers.
"PELNI as a shipping SOE also supports and follows the Government in implementing the Emergency PPKM policy for the Java-Bali region to suppress the spread and transmission of Covid-19," he explained.
During the Java-Bali Emergency PPKM period, the provisions for traveling with PELNI ships refer to the SE of the Ministry of Transportation Number 44 of 2021 and the SE of the Covid-19 Handling Task Force Number 14 of 2021. Referring to these rules, PT PELNI actively reminds prospective passengers to be able to equip themselves with the requirements travel in the form of vaccine certificates and other travel requirements.
In order to help prospective PELNI ship passengers fulfill the vaccination requirements, the Company and port stakeholders have provided free vaccination facilities. Currently these facilities are available at Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta, Tanjung Emas Port in Semarang, Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya and Benoa Harbor in Bali. "The company continues to coordinate so that prospective ship passengers at other ports can get similar facilities," he added.
