Long Holiday, PELNI Operates All Passenger Ships

A total of 26 passenger ships are ready to serve customers who wish to travel by sea on joint leave and national holidays of the Prophet Muhammad's.

Jakarta, 26 October 2020 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) operates all passenger ships ahead of the upcoming long holiday. A total of 26 passenger ships are confirmed to be ready to serve customers who wish to travel by sea on joint leave and the national holiday of the Prophet Muhammad's.

PT PELNI (Persero) 's Passenger Transportation Business Director, OM Sodikin said that 26 PELNI passenger ships are ready to serve passengers on long holidays starting from October 28 to November 1, 2020. "We are ready to serve passengers by implementing strict health protocols to maintain safety and comfort. passengers in a period of adapting to this new habit. Several ships such as KM Pangrango and KM Bukit Raya which have undergone docking in October 2020 are ready to carry passengers. " light Sodikin.

In line with Sodikin's statement, there will be several solid passenger segments predicted by the Company, namely KM Bukit Siguntang / KM Lambelu with the Tarakan - Nunukan - Balikpapan - Pare-Pare - Makassar - Maumere - Larantuka - Kupang section with a potential number of passengers of 7,066 people. Next is KM Kelud with the Batam - Belawan / Belawan - Batam section with a potential number of passengers of 3,633 people.

KM Nggapulu with the Ambon - Banda - Tual - Dobo - Kaimana - Fakfak section with a potential number of passengers as many as 1,006 people and KM Egon with the Sheet - Waingapu / Waingapu - Lembar section with a potential number of passengers as many as 1,055 people.

A total of 34,309 seats have been prepared on 26 passenger ships and 13,803 seats on 29 pioneers to serve passengers who wish to travel during this long holiday period. "Ticket sales will be carried out as much as 50% of the ship's capacity, we do this in accordance with the Government's policy to continue to implement physical distancing on board," said Yahya Kuncoro as the Head of the Corporate Secretary of PT PELNI (Persero).

Ticket purchases can be made by prospective passengers online through the counters at the PT PELNI Branch Office and travel agents by showing a Covid-19 free letter from the competent authority both the results of the rapid test and swab tests.

"We have tightened the health protocol on the ship by regularly spraying disinfectant liquid. The crew on duty also carries out rapid inspection/swab tests regularly to ensure the health of the crew in serving passengers," explained Yahya.

Yahya also added that since PELNI vessels were allowed to operate again during the Covid-19 pandemic in Quarter 3-2020, PELNI has carried 270,872 passengers or an increase of 308% when compared to Quarter 2-2020, which was 66,289 passengers.

The operation of PELNI ships is also in line with the opening of ports managed by the local Regional Government and the existence of a travel policy from the Government during this new adaptation period.

In line with the operation of PELNI ships, PELNI implements all passenger ships equipped with medical personnel and polyclinic facilities, hand washing equipment on each deck/floor of the ship, dividers between passenger seats to avoid contact between passengers. "In addition, the meal service is now self-service for every passenger and is available on every deck of the ship," added Yahya.
