More Secure, PELNI Becomes the First to Provide GeNose C19 on the Ship

GeNose C19 is present on all 26 PELNI passenger ships to ensure the health condition of all crew members and passengers during the voyage.

Jakarta, May 28, 2021 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) is the first shipping company to provide GeNose C19 equipment on board ships. This Covid-19 screening tool is present in all 26 PELNI passenger ships to ensure the health condition of all ship crews during the cruise.

Acting. Head of the Corporate Secretariat of PT PELNI Opik Taufik hopes that the presence of GeNose C19 in the entire PELNI fleet can provide a sense of security and comfort for ship crews and especially for customers. “This tool is used as a health screening for the crew on duty. This tool can also be used for PELNI ship passengers who are showing certain symptoms in the middle of the cruise. The presence of the GeNose C19 further complements the health facilities on board the PELNI ship," he said.

To note, all PELNI passenger ships are equipped with doctors who participate throughout the voyage. Apart from doctors, the PELNI ship also has an examination room along with medicines and treatment rooms for those in need.

The provision of GeNose C19 services on 26 passenger ships is a form of the Company's commitment to support the government's program in preventing Covid-19 in public transportation. "We also continue to spray disinfectants and maintain physical distancing on each voyage, so customers can increasingly trust their journey with PELNI ships," said Opik.

To date, the Company has 2,737 crew members assigned to serve customers on 26 passenger ships. "We continue to monitor the health of the ship's crew on duty to ensure every voyage is safe to serve customers. With this tool, the Company can more quickly take the necessary actions for early prevention, “explained Opik.

Opik added, it was recorded that the Company's data until the fourth day of the end of the post-mudik tightening period starting from May 25 to 28, 2021 PT PELNI had delivered 31,540 passenger ships and 7,368 pioneer ship passengers.

The highest increase in passengers on passenger ships on the second day, May 26, 2021, was 11,205 passengers, with the highest sections being Pare Pare – Tarakan and Bau Bau – Makassar. While on the highest passenger pioneer ship on the first day, May 25, 2021, there were 2,842 passengers, with the highest sections being Masalembo - Kalianget and Tanjung Wangi - Sapeken.

“Customers can buy PELNI ship tickets through online services, namely the Company's official website and PELNI Mobile Apps, contact center 162, travel agents, and ticket sales partners. For information on ship schedules, customers can also contact PELNI's whatsapp contact at 0811-1621-162," concluded Opik.

PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise which is engaged in sea transportation to date has operated as many as 26 passenger ships and stopped at 76 ports and served 1,058 segments.

In addition to passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 45 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area, where pioneer ships stop at 285 ports with 3,811 segments. PELNI also operates 16 Rede vessels. While in logistics business services, PELNI now operates 9 sea toll routes and 1 special route for livestock transportation.
