Ahead of Eid 1444 H Transportation, PELNI Predicts to Transport 600 Thousand Passengers

Jakarta, 27 March 2023 -- PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) predicts the number of passengers will reach 604,183 during the Eid 1444 H year 2023 transportation period. This number has increased by 125% compared to the actual number of passengers in the same period, namely on H-15 up to H + 15 Eid.

Main Director of PT PELNI Tri Andayani detailed, as many as 604,183 passengers consisted of 511,705 travelers using passenger ships and 92,478 travelers using pioneer ships. The operation of the PELNI ship Eid transportation starts on H-15 or on April 7 2023 and ends on H + 15 or on May 8 2023. "The entire PELNI fleet is ready to serve all Indonesian people in this 2023 Eid homecoming period," said the woman who you are familiarly called.

For sea transportation, PT PELNI estimates that the peak of homecoming flows will occur on April 17 or H-5 with a predicted number of passengers of 27,302 and an estimated return flow on April 29 or D+6 with a predicted number of passengers of 25,623. PELNI itself has prepared a fleet of 26 passenger ships and 42 pioneer ships ready to serve Eid 1444 H transportation. In addition, PELNI management has also prepared 48,539 seats consisting of 32,447 seats installed on passenger ships and 16,092 seats on pioneer ships.

For this year's homecoming flow, PT PELNI has predicted several heavy passenger departure ports including Makassar, Surabaya, Balikpapan, Ambon and Bau-Bau. As for the arrival ports that are densely packed with passengers, they include Surabaya, Makassar, Bau-Bau, Ambon and Belawan. To anticipate a surge in passengers, PT PELNI has also applied for permission to adjust ship routes and schedules to the Ministry of Transportation as the regulator.

In order to prepare maximum service, PT PELNI is preparing fleet readiness to carry out annual maintenance on six of its fleets before the peak season, including KM Lambelu, KM Leuser, KM Sinabung, KM Bukit Siguntang, KM Awu and KM Nggapulu. PT PELNI also ensures that the safety equipment on board the passenger and pioneer ships is in a safe condition. The safety equipment includes 350 lifeboats, 2,291 life rafts, 88,709 life jackets and 1,083 life buoys.

Meanwhile, for the provisions of travel on PELNI ships, prospective passengers who have had a second dose of vaccine and a third dose of vaccine (booster) no longer need to show travel requirements in the form of antigen or PCR. Passengers in the 3TP area also do not need to show travel requirements in the form of antigen or PCR.
