Jakarta, August 17, 2020 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) aggressively strengthening its logistics business through the My Cargoo application. The presence of this application is expected to further boost the cargo performance of PELNI passenger ships by at least 50 percent.
Along with the increasing number of ports opened and the ease of services provided by the Company, the performance of container cargo on passenger ships continues to increase. As of July 2020, the Company has transported 5,132 TEUs and projected to continue growing.
"There was an 87% increase in cargo from May 2020 to July 2020 or from 445 TEUs to 834 TEUs. The company is optimistic that the number of cargoes will continue to increase along with changes, innovations, and conveniences offered to shippers through the My Cargoo application later," said the Head of PT PELNI Corporate Secretariat Yahya Kuncoro.
Yahya added that PELNI's innovation through the My Cargoo application which is being developed by the Company will further enhance PELNI's competitiveness in the logistics business. This logistics management application will make it easy for shippers to place orders for cargo on passenger ships.
"The company continues to innovate by presenting a digital platform for logistics cargo. In addition to facilitating cargo ordering, this application simplifies the shippers to see in detail the available cargo slots in realtime and tracking cargo," he added.
For now, shippers can make the booking and reservation of cargo through the PELNI website and branch offices. The shipper can access cargo.pelnilogistics.co.id and fill in data according to the form provided. The shipper can also choose the ship's departure schedule and mode of delivery service desired.
"PELNI provides four different services that can be customized to the needs of the sender, namely door to door (full service), door to port, port to door, or port to port. With these services, the prices offered are also increasingly competitive," he added.
If the shipper chooses a door to door service, the goods will be picked up according to the sender's location and will be delivered to the recipient's location. Meanwhile, if you choose the port to port service, the sender will deliver the goods to the container yard at the loading port and the recipient will pick up at the container yard at the destination port.
Ease of service not only at the time of ordering the cargo but also at the time of payment. Now, the payment system is cashlessly supported via internet banking, mobile banking, and ATMs with a timelimit 4 hours after the booking process.
"To coordinate cargo orders at branch offices, shippers can communicate further together with our sales representatives," he added.
PELNI is a State-Owned Enterprise that operates in the field of sea transportation has currently operated as many as 26 passenger ships and visited 83 ports and served 1,100 sections.
In addition to passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 45 pioneer ship routes which become a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area where pioneer vessels stop at 275 ports with 3,739 sections. PELNI also operates a total of 20 Rede vessels.
Whereas in the logistics business services, PELNI now operates 4 cargo ships, 8 sea toll vessels, and 1 cattle-specific vessel.
