KM Gandha Nusantara 14 carried 1,800 basic food packages and 2 boxes of masks, which were assistance from Indonesian President Joko Widodo

Jakarta, 10 April 2021 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) deployed KM Gandha Nusantara 14 to transport humanitarian aid from the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo and Mrs. Darma Pertiwi for victims of the East Nusa Tenggara disaster. Relief items arrived and were unloaded on Adonara Island, Thursday (8/4).

The Head of Corporate Secretary of PT PELNI Opik Taupik said that the transportation of aid with KM Gandha Nusantara 14 was the result of a collaboration between the Ministry of Transportation, Regional Government, and PT PELNI. "The aid was transported from Tanjung Priok Port using KRI OWA 354 and arrived in Loweleba on Thursday (8/4) at 06.00 local time. Then it was loaded on KM Gandha Nusantara 14 to be transported to Adonara Island," he said.

The aid arrived at Adonara Island on Thursday (8/4) at 15.00 WITA. Opik Taupik further detailed, KM Gandha Nusantara 14 transported 1,800 packages of basic necessities and 2 boxes of masks, which were assistance from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. As for the assistance from Mrs. Darma Pertiwi in the form of 74 basic food packages, 100 pcs of folding mattresses, 300 pcs of Palembang mattresses, 200 pcs of blankets, 250 packages of disaster preparedness. "The plan is for the transportation to be carried out in stages," added Opik Taupik.

Meanwhile, PELNI also provides two passenger vessels namely KM Egon and KM Awu to carry humanitarian aid to East Nusa Tenggara. The two ships will depart from the Port of Tanjung Perak, Surabaya to the Port of Tenau, Kupang and Port of Waingapu. "KM Egon is planned to depart for Waingapu Port on Sunday (11/4) at 10.00 WIB. Meanwhile KM Awu will depart from Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya on Monday (12/4) and is scheduled to arrive at Waingapu Port on Thursday (15/4) and arrived at the Port of Kupang on Friday (16/4).

"Seeing the high enthusiasm of the people who wanted to send relief goods, KM Egon, which was due to depart on Saturday (10/4), was loosened so that it departed on Sunday (11/4) without disturbing the schedule at the next port. So that the shipping schedule remains on schedule, "he added.
