Jakarta, 20 May 2022 - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) was recorded to have transported as many as 473,472 customers during the Lebaran 1443 H transportation period in 2022. The company expresses its gratitude for the trust of customers who have used PELNI ship services as homecoming transportation in 2022.
PT PELNI's Director of Passenger Transportation, Yahya Kuncoro, explained that the number consisted of 220,643 customers who departed during the homecoming period from April 17 to May 2, 2022 and as many as 252,829 customers in the return period from May 3 to May 18 2022.
"The peak of the homecoming flow was recorded on April 28 with the number of passengers as many as 20,588 customers and the peak for the return flow was recorded on May 12 with the number of passengers as many as 22,960 customers," he said.
Yahya further detailed that for the flow of homecoming, passenger ships have delivered as many as 176,356 customers to various regions in Indonesia and pioneer ships have brought as many as 42,189 customers. Meanwhile, for the return flow, passenger ships have carried as many as 208,646 customers and for pioneer ships as many as 42,459 customers.
During the Eid transportation period, PELNI was also involved in the free homecoming program for motorbikes on ships belonging to the Ministry of Transportation on the Jakarta - Semarang - Surabaya route. In this program, PELNI deployed KM Dobonsolo and KM Ciremai. Both ships have carried 2,098 passengers on the homecoming and 1,724 passengers on the return flow.
Meanwhile, the company noted that the five busiest segments for passenger ship services during the homecoming flow include Batam - Belawan Island with 9,864 customers, followed by Balikpapan - Surabaya (8,195), Kumai - Semarang (6,596), Makassar - Surabaya (5,026) routes, Makassar - BauBau (3,688). The five busiest sections on passenger ship services during the return flow include Belawan - Batam Island (10,591), Semarang - Kumai (5,662), Surabaya - Balikpapan (5,255), BauBau - Makassar (5,010), Makassar - BauBau (3,809).
For five congested segments during the homecoming flow for pioneering ship services including Tua Pejat - Teluk Bayur with 955 customers, Tanjung Wangi - Sapeken (894), Kalianget - Masalembo (862), Amahai - Banda (612), Kalabahi - Baranusa (598). The five most densely populated sections include the Sapeken - Tanjung Wangi segment with 1,023 customers, Masalembo - Kalianget (937), Sapeken - Kalianget (820), Majene - Kotabaru (631), and Masalembo - Surabaya (565).
With the end of the Lebaran transportation period, all PELNI ships will resume operations serving their regular routes. "Purchase of tickets can be done online through the website, online channels, PELNI 162 call center, mini markets, travel agents, and PELNI branch counters with non-cash payment systems," Yahya explained.
PELNI ship customers can now pay for tickets through four virtual account services including Bank BNI, Bank BRI (BRIVA), Bank Mandiri, and Bank Permata. In addition, PELNI ship tickets can also be paid for through retail outlets such as Alfamart and Indomart as well as the i.saku digital wallet.

PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise engaged in sea transportation has currently operated 26 passenger ships and stopped at 76 ports and served 1,058 segments.
In addition to passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 44 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area, where pioneer ships stop at 285 ports with 3,695 segments. PELNI also operates 16 Rede vessels. Meanwhile, in logistics business services, PELNI now operates 10 sea toll routes and 1 special route for livestock transportation.
