Surabaya, August 3, 2022 - - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) held an audience with a number of shipping companies from Surabaya at the JW Marriot Hotel, Surabaya, Friday (2/9). This meeting was held as part of the Company's way of celebrating National Customer Day which falls on September 4.
The hearing was relaxed and friendly. Present from PT PELNI were Commissioner Kristia Budiarto, President Director Tri Andayani, Director of the Sea Toll and Goods Transport Business Yossianis Marciano, Head of Surabaya Branch Haeru Rijal, and a number of PT PELNI leaders from the Jakarta Head Office as well as representatives of PELNI Surabaya Branch.
President Director of PT PELNI Tri Andayani was the initiator of this meeting. He considers it important to be able to bring together the highest management as policy makers with the Company's customers as the direct recipients of the impact of the policy and greatly influence their decision to use PELNI services or not.

At the meeting last night, PT PELNI invited representatives of freight forwarders for passenger ships and sea toll cargo customers.
During the pandemic, when the number of passengers decreased, the trend of the cargo business actually increased. For shipments of cargo by sea toll vessels in 2020 there were 8,858 TEUs, while in 2021 the number of sea toll cargoes was 12,872 TEUs, an increase of 85.4 percent from the previous year. For the year 2022, until July there were 8,252 TEUs and this number showed an increase of 18.2 percent from the previous year period (YoY).
"The freight transport business is recorded to show a positive trend. For the performance of the sea highway itself. Throughout semester 1/2022, sea toll cargo showed an increase of up to 117 percent. The three regions with the largest sea toll cargo are still dominated by Surabaya, followed by Ternate and Bitung/Tahuna" added Yossianis.
PELNI operates 10 sea toll vessels where the capacity of KM Lognus 1-5-6 is 220 TEUs; KM Lognus 2-3-4: 115 TEUs and type KM Kendhaga 55 TEUs with an average delivery of 1-2 times per month. Surabaya is the largest home base for Sea Toll ships due to its strategic location.
PELNI as a State-Owned Enterprise engaged in sea transportation currently operates 26 passenger ships and stops at 76 ports and serves 1,058 segments.
In addition to passenger transportation, PELNI also serves 44 pioneer ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in disadvantaged, remote, outermost, and border areas (3TP) where Pioneer Ships stop at 281 ports with a total of 3,695 segments. PELNI also operates 16 Rede Vessels. For logistics business services, currently PELNI operates 10 routes of the Sea Toll Road as well as one special route for livestock transportation.*
