Today Marks the Peak of PELNI Ship Homecoming Rush, with Over 27,000 Travelers
Jakarta, March 26, 2025 — PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) predicts that the peak of the 2025 Eid homecoming rush using PELNI ships will occur today, Wednesday (26/3). Based on data as of March 26, a total of 27,557 passengers are scheduled to travel on PELNI ships. To ensure a smooth departure process, prospective passengers are urged to prepare valid identification documents, arrive on time according to the boarding schedule, and follow the instructions of port officials.
PELNI’s Corporate Secretary, Evan Eryanto, stated that as of this morning, more than 27,000 passengers are traveling home using PELNI ships. “Today, we recorded 27,557 passengers departing with PELNI ships, while the total number of passengers from March 16 to March 26, 2025, has reached 206,328 people. This figure comprises 182,712 passenger ship travelers and 24,310 pioneer ship passengers,” Evan explained.
This number is expected to continue rising as the PELNI Eid homecoming period extends until April 16, 2025. To prevent any unwanted incidents, Evan urged prospective passengers to arrive early and bring identification matching the person traveling. He also extended an apology to those prospective passengers who have run out of tickets and are unable to travel home with PELNI ships.
Based on data from March 16 to 26, 2025, the ports with the highest number of boarding passengers are Makassar Port (30,447 people), followed by Balikpapan (27,696), Batam (25,036), Ambon (19,235), and Kumai (17,309).
The five busiest routes for PELNI ships as of March 26, 2025, are as follows:
Batam - Medan (18,997)
Medan - Batam (12,696)
Balikpapan - Surabaya (12,695)
Kumai - Semarang (10,121)
Makassar - Surabaya (8,355)
Meanwhile, the five busiest destination ports are:

To deliver a calm and enjoyable homecoming experience as envisioned by the Government and the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, PELNI ship customers can already utilize digital channels such as the PELNI Mobile application or the official PELNI website.
PELNI ship tickets are also available through various banking applications such as BCA Mobile’s Lifestyle feature, Sukha Livin Mandiri, BNI agen46, and BRImo, as well as Indomaret and its OMI partners, Alfamart and Alfamidi networks, ATA Tour, Fastpay, easybook.com, via.com, MMBC, Darmawisata Indonesia, Versa, and Topindo.
For payments, PELNI has partnered with Bank BTN, BRIVA, BNI Virtual Account, Permata Bank, Mandiri Virtual Account, Indomaret and its OMI partners, Alfamart and Alfamidi networks, iSaku, Finpay, and Fastpay.
